Wooden coasters

<snip> The guy has been told over and over again not to worry and hes basically spamming the forums with unsubstantiated comments against the devs. He's been told not to worry, hes been told its in the pipeline and to be patient yet he wont shut up about it. Sooner or later, some people just need to be told something bluntly when half a dozen others have told him there is no issue.

I would like to add that the developers can still work on the game even after the release date. Patches could easily fix any issues that may occur if they implement wooden coasters right before launch.

Exactly, this is all a fuss about nothing and for the OP to say things like he feels the devs have 'let him down' etc. is frankly, insulting and ungrateful when you consider the HUGE amount of stuff we already have. We've only been live for a month, imagine how much can be accomplished in the next SIX! Some people need to grow up and learn that you DONT get everything exactly how you want it right away.

Atari tried to rush things and look how thats turning out........

Hey folks, just to remind you everyone is welcome to share their thoughts and opinions regarding the OP
Please however refrain from attacking each other and instead stick to the topic.

Thanks,
Planet Coaster Security

Just my opinion here, but phase 2 was for the coaster builder . In essence we should have gotten all coaster types and features...right ! Isn't that like test driving a car with all 4 wheels !

Wrong. Phase 2 was for coaster builder among other things, yes, but nothing at this stage is complete. Certainly not all types and features of coasters. Nothing will be complete until the finished article is released. Even then there will be updates and additions. We have what is available at this moment. Far more coasters, rides, shops etc are in the pipeline

I think we need to draw a line under this thread now!

When I stated, "But to have to wait approximately another 6 months to be able to make something I really enjoy doing is to me kind of a let down" I forgot a few words. What I meant was "is to me kind of a let down in my enthusiasm." It was just badly worded, it was never meant to be insulting to anyone.

Why should there be a line drawn ? If people bought the game, they have every right to give options and feedback ! I'm not using profanity or even bashing the game ! The topic is a very valuable one, as its informational .

There's a lot of features that people want that they won't have until a later date if not beta or even final release. That's just the nature of alpha's/early access, it's an unfinished game with incomplete features and we were warned when we bought it.

[ugh]

Dude stop crying about this, dont you know that the game ISNT being released after alpha is complete? We then go into Beta and there s no gurantee that there will be just one of those either. Frontier will NOT wait until full release to give us wooden coasters, that would be stupid.

May I remind you that there is still at least SIX MONTHS before final release, look how much has been accomplished in just over ONE MONTH so far.

You are indeed, just not OVER AND OVER. We get it, You REALLY wanna play wiv the wooden ones.

Youre acting like its something thats been forgotten about and release date is next week!!! Chill out and learn some patience, how often do ANY of us get to play a game this early in development anyway? I've played a fair few Beta games but have never been involved in an Alpha before, its way to early in the process to come on here saying things like you "Feel let down" . Thats just unreasonable.

Yup, sometimes too much maybe but I just cant stand people causing trouble when there is no issue. To come onto an ALPHA forum and say you 'feel let down' is just the most childish and dumb thing to say about a game thats only been in our hands for a month and still has well over 6 to go. The guys acting like a spoiled kid who wants all his sweeties NOW!

This I totaly agree with and is good advise.
I'm late to say this but get off my thread if you're creating problems[squeeeeee]

Dude, read the thread, i'm not the guy saying the Devs have let someone down and that things are unreasonable, etc. I'm defending the creators of this game and reassuring people that there is plenty of time for all aspects t be added like woddies, etc. If you think slagging oof the devs and being reassuring is not ok, then thats cool with me.

I had to chome in, I don't have the alpha and have been living through the streamers out there. I am going to bring a developer stand point to this whole thread. A little background, I have been developing various 3d modeling/engineering programs over the last 12 years. The kibds of problems they are mos likely trying to work through are not the ones everyone is talking about on this thread. How wooden coaster perform or are input has most likely already been solved. Mainly we have an editor. We have other coasters. Wopd is mainly going to be just a different skin. They are more likely looking at trying to figure out the best way to model the supports so they 1) look good and 2) don't bring the program to it's knees. Software is all about compromises and performance is always a driving factor. Placement concepts are likely the same between steel and wood. But having 1,000,000 polys for wood instead of 1000 polys for steel supports adds up real quick. They will get it figured out. But in the mean time, would you rather have an unplayable alpha.

Yup, this. The developers have said since before alpha 1 that the supports are the issue they are working to resolve with the wooden coasters. A positive thing lately is the fact that they show the transport train crossing the river in the new monorail image and it has wooden supports... meaning they have them in the developers build right now.
