Workshop Is Broken

I've just run into this issue, and it is becoming incredibly frustrating. I had 500 subscribed items, then exited and went back in and was down to 475....25 vanished from no where. I was going through the workshop looking for things and was like "Wait...I subbed to that already?" they didn't appear in my list to even "update" they were just suddenly unsubbed against my will. This is driving me nuts, also after a certain point it stops loading my subs and just sits there trying to load.

Personally I'l be using Frontier's workshop as little as I can, it simply has too many bugs, and the game already provides enough frustrations for one game.

Problem I am also facing is I get to page 20 of my downloads and suddenly I can't go any further, it's just spinning icons and blank squares :(

Trying to think from a Macro perspective. Like the game itself, the Frontier Workshop is young. We're just involved with some continual development over the next years which we can support or not support. But honestly that's OK and it doesn't all need to arrive right now, it's a process. We wouldn't have Planet Coaster or Planet Zoo if it wasn't for Roller Coaster Tycoon and continual development. I first bought Elite on Commodore64 Cassette. If anybody doesn't know what a cassette is........ 😂

"Continual development" is one thing...but a feature that doesn't even work most of the time that you are forced to use from the start is another.

Many people have pointed out the problems with Frontier's Workshop have existed for long before PC2 was released. PC2 was advertised as having the ability to share rides and designs with others - there was no "someday" or "sometimes" attached to that feature. There was no "subject to continued development". It DOES need to work right now...it's a feature that was promised when sold the game upon release date. If it wasn't ready - because, as you say, it's 'young', then either they shouldn't have played it up as being a central feature of the game...or made alternatives available.

The fact that they might take steps to fix it doesn't negate the fact that people are not able to fully make use of it now, and they are expressing their frustrations about that fact. People didn't pay for something that it's features will only work somewhere down the line when and if they get around to fixing it.

I honestly can't disagree, but think my point still stands and we have to rely on the idea that people are working on it. Let's not forget that this workshoo involves Big Data. It isn't something that Frontier have built a refrigerated basement to host all the servers. Without a shadow of doubt they rent Cloud service for the hosting of a workshop and so time has to be given for those hosts to answer to any complaints that Frontier are sending to them.

It really is frustrating and I only have one or two bugs, but they are workshop and blueprint related. Just like the game so keep playing and the fixes will come when the fixes come.

I'm tired of having to update so many creations that actually do NOT need updating. They haven't changed, they are the same thing. Then the fact I can't get past page 20 when I have 24 pages of downloads is also frustrating, so that's 4 pages or 72 workshop items I cannot load because the workshop refuses to go past page 20. I can't use the one in the browser, as that doesn't show anything as needing an update (because they don't), this is clearly a game issue that is removing them constantly and flagging them wrong. I just want to not go "Why is this not here? I know I downloaded it" and then having to wade through pages to find it (because there is no word search function in your own sub section) to upgrade it....again.

100% agree. I never used Frontier Workshop before Planet Coaster 2 and just assumed it would work like Steam Workshop. Maybe less good, little more features but expected it to just work. But it doesn't. You just subscription items, you cannot make collections, it is super slow, you can only see 1 image ingame and need to use webbrowser to see and upload more pictures. Its just bad on too many aspects to be honest.

It is just one of many bad design choices this game has.

And of course we get no communication about this again.

One of the things that frustrates me the most about the Workshop is that you can't delete/unsubscribe from workshop items from the game menus. There’s a “go to Frontier Workshop” button when you right-click on a thumbnail, but clicking it doesn’t go right to that item’s page, it goes to my whole list of subscribed items. Which means I have to try to find the item I want to unsubscribe from in a list of hundreds! Clicking go to workshop should go directly to THAT item in the workshop! EDIT: On a side note, when you select a scenery item and click the "Locate in Browser" button, it should open the browser with that item selected, not just open to its category.

The idea of using their own workshop to share across platforms is a good one, but I don’t understand why Frontier wouldn’t have made a workshop that at least has the same basic functionality as Steam Workshop (like the ability to keyword search through your subscriptions and more/better filters to find exactly what you want). I mean, Steam Workshop is in NO WAY perfect (I have my issues with it too), but you’d think Frontier would want their own workshop to actually be useful to the players.

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen a tech company put out a lousy/seemingly unfinished/barely functioning product, and I have to ask; doesn’t any company take pride in their work anymore? Why is mediocrity the norm these days?

Okay....today I can't even use any of my blueprints, I just get "Frontier workshop failed to load"

I mean....why? Why are you tying the need to be ONLINE and the need for the workshop to be working, TO RETAIN THE FILES YOU DOWNLOAD?!

They are downloaded to our PC are they not (I actually think they might not be...I can't find ANYTHING related to where they could be, this is a huge issue if they aren't because if they aren't stored on our end....where are they stored?)!? Why is it just not pulling them straight from my PC? Why is there arbitrary rules behind these files? It makes no sense!

I wanted PC2 to be vastly improved, but right now it feels like a beta and it even went backwards with some things. It's missing things from the first game, some rides, custom music and billboards for example. I'm confident though that they will address these things in the new year. The fact that they did two fixes and an update already means that they are aware of complaints here. I want this to be the best amusement park building game even more than RCT3 and PC1. It is currently the only game with working waterslides and pools that has free form construction off a grid. RCT3 is more restrictive with building, most things are on a grid. And I thought we got more biomes in PC1? Why couldn't they give us the old ones, plus the four new ones, and an editor to create our own landscape even the border? Bigger park size as well. The current size seems not big enough if you want to build a big park that's spread out. Maybe the dev team should boot up RCT3 and PC1 for ideas to improve PC2 with. There are flat rides in RCT3 and PC1 I would like to see in PC2. Gravitron, Sky Swing, Slingshot from RCT3, and Scrambler, Blackout (space shuttle), and Centrum from PC1 for example.
