In Planet Coaster, they added a free update + a free ride that came in the form of a free DLC which we had to download from Steam.

That might explain the relative lack of updates since the NA pack.
I was thinking the same thing. Just wait to address all the glitches in the anniversary update

Again I think this is unlikely but maybe there's not a rainforest pack in the future. Maybe it's what we get for the anniversary. One animal that's mostly a reskin and easier to put in with the lemur, one new animal with the capybara, and some of the other assets that were apparently found in data. I know, unlikely, but one can hope.

Judging from the comments from last year, they only have to do 1 scenery/enrichment item (cake/statue) or 1 animal. Most people would be content with a little bit of attention.

And for sure, some teases for upcoming DLC are also appreciated. Maybe they're breaking the whole cycle of 2 weeks of a deluge of information and then 3 months of silence (aside from the 1 or 2 short update patches for ~2 weeks after the major update)

Yes, I think something will be released for Planet Zoo's anniversary, many clues suggest it: Friday's tweet, the lack of fixes since 1.7 and the high activity on SteamDB.
My guess is that it will be a "small" update 1.7.2: a free animal (probably the Black-and-white ruffed lemur) and maybe another exhibit one, a new outfit for our avatar, balloons to place in the zoo etc...

Yeah! We could create a sewers entry and have a red balloon hovering near it.
I do not expect a present to us because pf last year but of course I would be happy to get one. Which animals we get then does not matter to me. Some "clones" with minor changes or recoloration would fit in such a present perfectly. Lets take the potential lemur or the American black bear, perhaps massai Giraffe or a second zebra species. But we will see next Friday
