World of Warships Vol. 2

Being, AFK, I'm playing WoWs Blitz.
I also made a Blitz clan, named ED_07, should anyone want to join.

My standard WoWs user name is optimal_909 too, feel free to add me.

OT: Stupid Hippy, reading your signature: I also hate your first discoveries accross the galaxy, especially around Beagle Point. ;)

I played exclusively WoWs in the past few days, and got a few learnings:
- Tier 6 BB and above, 1:1 against a full health DD is suicidal indeed
- Avoid showing broadside of Nagato at all costs, planning a route on map is essential
- Don't fire the guns of an IJN DD unless really necessary, most damage I've done was made sailing undetected and torping BBs (I.e. sailing in that narrow band of visibility and torp range)

Even though BB is my favourite tool, I'm starting to enjoy more and more the different playstyle of CAs and DD.

So, nobody is playing WoWs? :)
I decided to sit out Elite beta (I don't want to spoil it) and now playing mainly WoWs and a bit of Civ6.

I am now collecting XP for an Amagi, improving my Aoba and König. ATM I don't play DDs.
I also quit playing Tier 3, and Tier 4 is the platform to train captains for new high-tier ships. No way I'd separate Kongo and Fuso from their captains... :)

And I fell in love with the Nagato. She never goes down without a fight, and if I position her properly, she punches way above her weight (410mm) even against Tier 9 opponents... beautiful ship too with rich historical background.
I kitted her for better secondaries, and taking AA planes with her for a balanced outfit, though for some reason CVs rarely pop-up at tier 7. Firing range is a slight issue, though this way I'm not tempted to throw long range salvos that reveal my location - and may, or may not hit due to dispersion.

Some of the OST is pure magic, this is my favorite now:

Yeah, sorry, I haven't had time to play anything, lately, except half an hour of Assasin's creed couple times a week.
I'm still at Kongo in Japanese BBs. Glad to hear it gets better. :)

I also like the Kongo, I think it is a quite capable ship. Light on armor, but it is fast and can shoot far away. Fuso is slow, but has six turrets and somewhat better armor - was my favourite until Nagato.
I am much more frustrated by the German ships dispresion, very difficult to hit CAs properly.

So mind you, some hate the Nagato for having weak(ish) armor, you need to be very careful not to show your side, as one enemy salvo can erase half of your hp pool - and better have enough free xp to go for the B hull immediately, as the A is garbage.

No idea...
I wonder how the gameplay will be, as aiming with the controller must be difficult.

I imagine it’s not too bad.

D-Pad for helm and manoeuvring orders.
One analogue stick for left right And up down, the other for zoom.

I’ve not played for a few weeks now, the UK event tired me out for a bit.

I am playing it a lot as I mothballed Elite until 3.3 goes live. Also playing a bit of Civ6, but currently having fun with Wows.

The only thing that annoys me is the matchmaking. I lost 10 matches in a row, then a won 10 matches in a row... Quite often the team starts to collapse few minutes into the game. Sometimes my team pushes so successfully ahead, that by the time I realize it's time to push, I can do little damage as ships are being wiped out in front of me, once winning a match with only 6k damage done with the Nagato.

BTW Nagato is still my favourite ship, I have decent average damage and have a win rate close to 60%.

WOW, the humble König can be quite an efficient ship. As much as I love the IJN BBs, gotta love the tough German brawling BB line too.

Nice, I wasn't even aware, I've seen the Prinz Eitel Friedrich only. Edit: apart of the Russian paper BBs that are being planned.

On the other hand I'm quite disappointed, that I won't be able to get the Musashi. I'd need 80k coal, but no way I can collact that much before it will be retired.
And for some reason I'd love to have the Mikasa too.

Musashi bugs me as well. I have about 35k coal and it took me almost a year to get that amount. Before that, I wasn't able to get the Missouri by a couple tens of thousands free XP. I'm a filthy casual who will never have nice things. :D
And I'll probably get the Des Moines before saving up enough for a Salem, too. The arsenal currencies are useless for me

Yeah, not because Musashi is OP, but because it is cool. I get that it is similar to meme ships in Elite like the Anaconda, still... anyway, Once I will unlock the izumo, I will have enough XP to unlock the Yamato right away, so at least I will have that.

Oh, and I just discovered the Mikasa in the WG premium shop for a mere 9€ - that is kinda the max amount I'm willing to spend for in-game stuff.

True. Izumo scares me as well. :D
I kind of abandined the IJN BBs for now, because I'm focusing on DDs and American heavy cruisers, but yeah, my plan also is the save up enough XP to skip Izumo entirely. Poor girl, nobody likes her. :D

And the thing I like about Yamato and Musashi is that they actually, aside from their guns, aren't really OP. Very few ships in WoWs are, in fact.

I think they are OP, just not invincible. :)
Still I much rather face them than a HE spamming Atlanta or Belfast sailing out of sight.

Belfast is OP, yes. (and yes, I failed to get her while she was available, too. :D)
Atlanta, at least, is balanced. A slight mis-play will get you killed in about 3 seconds. But I love my IFHE Atlanta. I only survive about 1 in 5 games, but it's fun as hell.

Yamato's ability to delete everything (except the Russian cruisers, of course) is certainly OP but other than that, it seems to have too many weaknesses.
I haven't played any of T10 BBs, of course, but from what I've seen, basically all of them are kind of... underwhelming in one way or another. Personally I think that T8 is the high point of all BB lineups. That's where the power curve kind of tails off and the cruisers take over as the most survivable class.
