Worries about Microtransactions

So this may seem like a strange concept but the fact that Conservation Credits look suspiciously similar to modern free to play or AAA titles premium currencies has me worried that in the full release or, more insidiously, after release hype, that the option to buy Conservation Credits will be added to Planet Zoo. Can I get some confirmation on whether there will or won't be microtransactions in the final release?

As far as I know, Frontier isn't known for microtransactions and after all the controversy with EA and their titles I would assume they wouldn't head in that direction. But I guess we won't know until it either does or doesn't happen, or we get confirmation.

Technically, the beta wouldn't be confirmation that micro-transactions aren't in the game. I'd like to think they won't be, but then you see Activision and EA wait until release, or wait until a month after release before they put the micro-transactions into the game. I would think Frontier wouldn't do it, but I could see how conservation Credits could be used for micro-transactions, as it is a secondary currency. I really hope its not the case with this game, but we'll see.

Pretty sure this was asked in the ask me anything and Bo confirmed they have no intention of introducing microtransactions and that conservation credits are an in-game currency only.

I believe that its going to be unlikely micro-transactions will make it into the game, and I personally believe that statement, but then again, Activision and EA said the same things about some of their games, and yet they still put them in. I honestly doubt frontier will do micro-transactions other than DLC, since they usually can be trusted.

They have dlcs instead if it which is much better. I have never spent a single cent on mtxs i dont even know for what its just software garbage to pull out your money works great on kids.

Bo has confirmed that conservation credits will not be for sale.

"Conservation Credits are not for sale, we absolutely do not have pay-to-win mechanics in Planet Zoo! You buy the game once. As the Developer Journal specifies, you can earn Conservation Credits through undertaking certain objectives, completing community challenges, releasing animals to the wild, and trading in the Animal Market."

Hiya, just seen a few questions pop up here and there so we wanted to give some additional information which hopefully answers most things!

No microtransactions, no need to worry :)

Thats why i pre-ordered as soon as it was possible! Frontier is one of the last the few developers that i realy trust about solid gamedevelopment, fair prices and a solid amount of content at release and not this disgusting greed that EA, Bethesda and Ubisoft bring to the market.

Also the offered DLCs are quite fair about price/content. Pls Frontier....keep the good game development up :)

I totally agree.

Haven't bought anything from EA, Bethesda and Ubisoft this year, because of poor games, lack of new idea's, and generally ridicilous prices.

I'm really glad to hear this. However given that Tencent is a relatively big investor of Frontier, I hope their shady practises won't negatively influence you guys in the future (like it has with other companies).
Planet Zoo is the first title of FD that I picked up and it's been a refreshing experience seeing a game-dev company be so involved with, and understanding of, their fans. You guys are really giving it your all to make the most of Planet Zoo and I'd hate to see shady investors ruin that.
I have faith in you ❤
