Worse genetics in sandbox than before

Is it just me, do I have a bad luck or is this some kind of bug/tweak? Before there was like 2 kinda meh animals, 1 good and 1 bad. But now all 4 are just terrible with 0 % in one or two categories. I bought like 40 sable antelopes and only one of them doesn't suck. Even gold or silver animals are not as good as they used to be.

I wish they would allow us in sandbox to modify what genetic level animals come into the trade center. I have to keep buying the same animal until the gold one appears. It can get frustrating since I have to “heal” a number of them before they can be sold. I end up buying about 30 of them and if no gold one appears, I reload the save and try again

Yep, I too buy only animals that have at least 3 green genetic traits. I buy big number of them and then sell them, which is annoying. But I feel it used to be that I bought 10 and gained 2 good. Now I buy 10 and gain no good.

I have all the species in one zoo and have the golden ones in all of the habitats, I believe that the more valuable the animal, thee less likely it is to get a golden (harder to a golden gorilla vs a golden peafowl) so the odds depend on the animal you are looking for. I go for at least 3 greens too, but always try have at least one 4 green one for each gender

Yep, I am trying to do the same. But since the new update its like all animals are two red, one orange and one green if lucky. Maybe I have just a bad luck since the update.

Could be bad luck. It took me a long time to “grind” for 5 golden white rhinos. Making my job harder, I try to get all the different color variations as well.

The thing is that at this point I don't even care for the gold ones. Just give me some that doesn't have any red trait.

I actually noticed something similar yesterday. Every sun bear and binturong was terrible.
I mean I find it unlikely that Frontier intentionally reduced the odds of getting better genetic animals in sandbox, unless they changed something else that had the unintended effect of making harder odds. Like I said, it would be fantastic if they allowed us to control what level genetics (such as gold) populates in sandbox trade center

At this point Sandbox might as well be a "design your animal" system. Choose the species, choose the genes, choose the coat variant, click "adopt".

It isn't especially "realistic" I guess but I don't think it should matter in Sandbox. It would make creating your dream zoo a lot easier.
They have added a number of openings sandbox that allow the player to go past realism, so being able to choose the genetics of animals you adopt is great fit for Sandbox. I have over 600 hours in the game and it’s almost all in my sandbox zoo, which is my “dream zoo” as you put it.

Would you want all green genetics though? If you want to breed them then for fertility and immunity you can have two individuals that both have really low scores produce gold offspring. More of an issue with size and longevity. If you aren't going to breed them then does it matter?

Note I don't really play sandbox so I may be misunderstanding the point of wanting high rated genes if you aren't going to breed them.

In sandbox I don’t breed because I have animal aging is frozen so I never deal with having to find new animals, once I have the perfect animal setup I’m good. so besides me unfreezing animal time for a short period so I get the babies for each species and then freeze animal time again, animals always stay the same, hence always wanting the golden animals for display

For me it's more about choosing coat variants while still having decent stats, so if anything's changing it might as well be "all in". I breed in Sandbox but mostly for the simulation of a real zoo than anything else. I also prefer animals with a decent size gene for aesthetic reasons.

I notice in franchise some animals listed as gold are not "green" in all categories now, where before they were usually well above the minimum "green" cutoff in all stats. They must have downgraded the criteria, which makes it harder to visually scan the lists to see which ones I am interested in.

I am still hoping they return the option to search based on minimum percentage scores in each criteria.

Actually what it is is that there was a color mistake that they fixed, when looking in the animal trade menu, there were some values that would appear green in the animal trade menu but yellow when viewed everywhere else. So those incorrect green colors are now correctly yellow when those values pop up

Thanks, I was starting to thought I'm terribly unlucky :D

I want all green and I don't want to breed them. All I care about is making nice zoo with happy animals and guests. I really don't care about breeding or genetics. But it triggers me to see the red and orange there.
And I think it's more realistic to be able to choose what genes you want. IRL zoos can choose what animal they want to adopt. We can't. Or do you think it's realistic to buy 50 animals and then immediately resell 48 of them?

What's up with this? Every animal is orange or red stats territory - I play mainly Sandbox and the Stats are ridiculously low. Can we please fix this? Love this game though - the new plants and just the plants in general are brilliant - 💋🌹💐
