Would you be more interested in CGs if...

Galnet is very vague, boring, an uninteresting.

I know you guys think we're all sitting here content to drift in space and "discover" crap, but CG's are time-sensitive goals of a finite nature. So that type of "immershun" isn't the most effective way to get people to show up.

Again, the OP posed a problem and I'm trying to solve it effectively.

That's fair enough, but just because you don't like the way the information is presented (I doubt I'm entirely alone in playing the Elite series in part for it's rich lore and setting) doesn't mean it isn't there. Personally I was positively thrilled to see the return of Galnet articles with the pre-Christmas wave of CGs, because the galaxy started to feel a bit more alive, but as with all opinions your mileage may vary greatly.

I can probably say, no to all of that. I haven't done a CG in years, in fact there may be two I took part in but they are pretty much a non-event as far as I am concerned.

Thing is, most of these are hygeine factors, not motivators.

All these things (for the most part) arise from other activities I'm more motivated to do.

  1. High Hygiene + High Motivation: The ideal situation where employees are highly motivated and have few complaints.
  2. High Hygiene + Low Motivation: Employees have few complaints but are not highly motivated. The job is viewed as a paycheck.
  3. Low Hygiene + High Motivation: Employees are motivated but have a lot of complaints. A situation where the job is exciting and challenging but salaries and work conditions are not up to par.
  4. Low Hygiene + Low Motivation: This is the worst situation where employees are not motivated and have many complaints.
Is Elite Dangerous a job?
Are CG's a job?

Could be I guess.

Encouraging participation in an in-game event needs to have tangible, meaningful rewards for players.

They could hit any number of player interests, social, progression, exploration, etc. - but they really should be participating player focused.

I suppose one could argue, they are pmf focused, and that benefits a narrow slice of players in the lasting concrete outcome - but why get involved if your not a BGSr or in the pmf?

The reward (not related to Credits) would have to be profound for me to join a CG.

Something like double-engineered Equipment is a start.

  • a Tritium effectiveness Booster for my Carrier (higher efficiency)
  • a Hyperdrive Jumprange booster for my Carrier
  • a Storage extension for my Carrier
  • increased Ship/Module storage slots
  • unique Military Equipment (going beyond normal Equipment parameters, G5 Engineered outperforming classic Equipment)

This is the kind of stuff I'd haul 10000t of Tritium into my Carrier and zap to a CG location to participate despite normally ignoring them unless there's a very special purpose to them.
