Would you buy a custom in-game cockpit setup?

What if FD sold a DLC that offered a customized in-game cockpit setup and a HOTAS setup (with nice and pretty buttons that actually push and light up) that mirrors the in-game cockpit set up. Would you buy it?

I doubt it.

Unless it came with Chrome Paint for the Orca.

Yes I would.. But I would also like Fdev to put some custom elements like this to be achievable in game. Custom Imp paint job for admiral, elite combat hud ect ect.

I doubt it, but maybe. Just like I don’t by the bobbleheads. Now if they offered some actual instruments like a gyro-compass to help me stay oriented in space and an artifiical horizon when on planets/in orbit. I might consider those.

Depends on the price, but yeah, I'd buy it. They'd really only need another three or four options, if you think about it. X-56, CH and a couple of Thrustmaster skins and you've got most of the market covered.

Although having said that, how many of us would buy a MCG clone while we're waiting for the EU store to get more stock? ;)

I doubt if I'd buy it. Any Elite-specific HOTAS would likely be priced low enough to sell, but for a HOTAS I'd want something incredibly solid and well-equipped. I'd only buy it if it were top-notch.

I'd certainly buy in-game cockpit customisations; something more than bobbleheads.

Defo, this should have taken precedence over the other purchasable cosmetics. I’d also like a ciggie in the ashtray and a cockpit full of smoke.

The Star Citizen guys made quite an effort to get a custom HOTAS done for the game - and failed. Logitech and Thrustmaster weren't interested and Saitek got sold to Mad Catz and Mad Catz went bankrupt. TADA...

We got an announcement for their custom HOTAS pre-sale being imminent in December 2016. After that no word about cancellation, delay or the project being cut - not a dying official word ever since. Eventually, people figured out that Mad Catz went down the drain on their own. Talk about total corporate communications failure, after announcing that pre-order sales would start in 2 weeks...

Dunno if Braben can find someone - he's got ~2.9 million boxes sold, but what percentage of that are active players now and what percentage of active players would buy that? Also, the interested ones probably have hotas already, so this one would have to be significantly better than their existing one...

Those are hard questions to answer.

I would absolutely buy a custom cockpit.

But it would have to be an improvement to window struts and the view, mainly.

Like if I could put the cockpit of the Vulture on another ship, where the cockpit is in a somewhat compatible position.

The ASP has great visibility, but the window struts - from the position of the pilot's chair - look kinda lame and unrealistic.
The Vulture's window struts are both more stylish and more realistic.

What you're flying is really the cockpit.

You can never see the paint jobs or the ship kit except in outfitting. How pointless!?!
I always wanted FD to at least put areas into the cockpit that take on the color of the paintjob...

So yeah, I agree with the guy who said we should have had custom cockpits long before external paint / ship kits.

I have a center mount Warthog a busted old Throttle Quad with prop plane controls.
And a weird setup with the pedals.
Would love the layout emulated in-game for the Rift.

I tried moving the warthog to the right, but it stuffs up the mouse and pod layouts.

Rep for the Nostromo shirt, I have one in green, probably wear it a bit too much. Is that also a bottle Jameson Irish Whiskey? Do you have an opening for a crew member? Will fly for booze.

I would be very open to purchasing alternate cockpit layouts. I live the "raider" look - my cmdr has the ripped up old flight suite, and I've get the raider spikes on my ships (where available). I'd really like even just an aesthetic treatment of the current cockpit with wear and tear, panels hanging off with wires bursting out, junk piled up in the corners. (I play in VR, so I would see all this).

In regards to a HOTAS - I've just replaced a X52 Pro with a Thrustmaster T16000M FCS. Logitech, Saitek and Thrustmaster are somehow official partners will Frontier on Elite (scroll to the bottom here: https://www.elitedangerous.com/), and especially the T16000M FCS seems to have been designed with Elite in mind. I dont really know what more is expected here.

As for feedback indicators on the joystick - not of any use to me, as a VR user. Before I used VR, I tried putting info on the MFD on the X52, but actually its quite immersion breaking looking away from the screen. Honestly, i think its better to keep the joysticks simpler, and either keep the price down, or build to a better quality.
