Not sure there is something wrong. But things have changed with the new build. NPCs are often smarter, and builds leaned towards heavy SCB use seem to be less useful now. Have a look at your loadout and see if you can better something.

Haven't personally seen much difference, but then again I rely on not getting hit rather than on having stacks of SCBs and such.

:D S

Are you hostile with the local pirates in that system? Were these pirates in wings and you didn't realize it? Sometimes they will join a wing of 5 other NPCs mid fight.

I have died twice so far not playing till this gets fixed I cant afford to loose that much money. and was not hostile to those factions and they all where from different solo I just keep getting jump once I attack by all the wanted in the area! my shield died in like 2 sec or less also ate up my ship fast too once shield went down could not even get away.

Well speaking for myself, running a well documented AMD "solution".. it's certainly not the smooth game play I was used to. Wouldn't say unplayable, but close. Hopefully they'll work out a fix for the stu-stu-stutter rap soon.

Uh there is nothing wrong with the NPCs. I'm sorry but I think you should learn to change tactics. The ai no longer seem to just try and get behind you, but now actually fa off and flip around and use chaff and scbs somewhat intelligently. Now there is a minor bug idk if others have ran into but sometimes they don't show that they are in a wing. If you hold of for a few seconds and see other ships flying in a coherent formation they are most likely In a wing. I had that happen to me once but the next time I just sat back for a minute or so and it loaded it corectly. My guess a latentcy issue on server, only a minor pain.
TL;DR get gud bruh

Elite's been "out" for a year and a day.

A year. A whole year of flying in a galaxy full of "I'm gonna boil you up" trash-talking blithering hopeless NPC idiots.

Well, sounds like they are no longer a race of pathetic, capitulating morons...

"Hostile" NPCs don't always just roll over, show us their belly, and wobble along waiting for us to pop their ship.

"Hostile" NPCs don't always sit there being irrationally docile, waiting for us to get around to focusing solely on popping their ship.

What to do?

Know when to fight and when to run.

Work on situational awareness. Don't get target tunnel vision.

Bring a friend... then it's always "two against...", as opposed to "one pilot against the galaxy".

Going to a dangerous place, looking for a fight? Surviving unscathed should NOT be a foregone conclusion.

Ask yourself, why was one hostile Player more dangerous than an entire conflict zone full of "hostile" NPCs?

Because the Player was going to be effective at combat.

I, for one, am very pleased to see that NPCs are finally being regarded as being somewhat effective... even if they have to rely on numbers to get there!

This is not a dig at all to anyone, but I think the difficulty bump was needed and isn't even hard enough imo. Many CMDRs need to work on their piloting and combat skills. Understanding how and when or even IF you should engage a target in combat is something this game needed and it looks like they are finally going in that direction. Mindless blowing up of AI is completely boring!

simply not going to play till it fixed no fun in loosing every fight ! SAY what you want about my skills as a pilot but I consider myself a good pilot using a top flight stick and comp to play. The money needed to fight the npc is not in line with the time and it takes to get the items needed to play. say all you want about how you love getting your ass kicked now by harder npcs but the majority or us cant compete with these npcs now. you ll get bored too when there's no one around to play with cause they have no ships to fly and they cant get enough money to get new ones.

Depends on what the difficulty is.

If NPC are better now because they have been given weapons which mean shields are pretty much useless then that is pathetic. If they fly around better and scale better for their ranking (i.e. harmless v elite) then I don't have a real problem..

It seems in true FD form they have just given NPC's more cheats, why not easy fix...

My shields have been fine so far. Try utilizing chaff etc, change up some tactics.

I honestly think the only change is that shields fully scale with pip usage now, combined with better npc loadouts. Shields use to be the same str from 0-2 pips then 3 and 4 made a rather large difference to shield str. Now it seems getting hit with 0 pips to shields depletes them really fast, so those people who manage their pips well don't seem to notice this change. I have no proof of this but it feels the case to me, just my two cents.

OK, having read about this issue before I jumped into 2.0, I must say, along with the buggy route plotter, it was my greatest concern. So I whipped up the Python and paid the nearest CZ a visit.
_
Aaand, without disrespect to anyone, what the hell is everybody on about?
_
The NPCs are without question business-as-usual, dumb, bullet-sponge, target practice, shockingly I feel, even more so than before! I advanced 2% on Deadly rank, made just under 2 million in bonds, and returned to base empty on multicannon ammo but full load of SCBs - I didn't use a single one!
_
OK, I thought, let's see how the Viper would fare. Slapped on 3C Bi-Weave and off I went. If anything, it was even more boring than in the Python! I happened to pull an Elite AI-piloted Viper Mk IV out of the clew to sort things out like men, 1-on-1. It only accentuated the fact that except bullet-sponging, the AI is utterly hopeless! During what was one of the most boring fights I've ever had in Elite, it managed to line-up for 1 (one!) attack run and by the time I got back on its six my Bi-Weave was back to 3 full rings.
_
I'm by no means saying that an issue doesn't exist. If it's a deliberate change, FD should comment on it. If it's a bug, I don't seem to be affected by it. Outside of that, I honestly have no idea what could this be.

yeah having my asp handed to me for being over confident was a great wake up call.. im loving it!! i won a gtx 680 earlier this year.. o7 to mobius group.. so upgraded from an amd R7 2** card, so luckily my game isnt suffering with gpu driver issues.

id even go as far as saying Horizons is running smoother than ED did for me, and its definitly looking way better in 64bit. i'm only running a very modest system too, i3 intel dual core, 8Gb of ram and a 240Gb SSD.. and the mobius gpu is easily worth 2x the rest of my rig lol

yup - made the game too hard :(
getting fed up of FD caving into the "lets be so challenging that we become Ninja Gaiden in space" crowd!

So yeah I spent a good hour in a HAZRES in a Cobra Mk IV with my baby in my lap today. Not exactly Ninja Gaiden in space by any means. Perhaps actually learning how the flight mechanics work would help you out. Skip on over to Youtube to watch some guides.

Pretty interesting thought I'll have to give it a shot at some point.

ok I ll write it again
I simply wont play till this is fixed ! its not fun at all to loose every fight ! the money needed from each lost ship is far to much compared to the time it takes to get a new ship. I have a top of the line flight stick and super comp and consider myself above average player. there is no fun in this type of hardcore npc now I just started playing this game like a month ago. if you top end players are having fun with this its because you have to time and the money to do so . the rest of us are screwed to a extremely slow grind with little to no rewards. not going to be fun for you either once everybody leaves from frustration.

There isn't anything broken that needs fixing. I honestly think you might benefit from taking a breather and maybe take some advice that h347h suggested and watch some combat tutorial videos. It was too easy to mass kill AI and maybe people got complacent. Myself and the majority seem to be having no issues whatsoever.
