Wow! The Orca

Engineering an Orca is on my short list of things to do next in the game.

After spending a couple of days in a conda, I took the passenger cabins out of my Orca and took it out about 1600Ly or so and back last night. The difference in jump range is not significant enough to ever have me back in a conda. My Exploraorca jumps 44Ly or so, boosts to over 500, and handles SO much better in normal space and SC that I can't see me ever going back to a conda. YMMV... :D

I've joined the orca club, and it's a thing of awesome.
I kind of wanted one when they first appeared, they just looked cool, but they didn't really have a purpose back then.
Now though, with passengers and the better jump range and everything, they're great :) got it a nice paint job, engineered it up for speed and jump range and it's just a really cool ship for wandering around in.
I'm going to buy another two lol, and set them up for different things.
I'm actually preferring things like the orca, dolphin, eagle and courier just now, since I got bored with combat a while back and also the slow turning and low jump range of the cutter and vette. I'm taking the orca out on a passenger trip to colonia and feel like a proper luxury liner captain :)

God. You people are making me want to buy one. But I don't want to buy one. But I do want to buy one. But why? At the moment I'm running an ASP-X for passenger missions (no luxury cabins). Not sure what the point is of using one, except the multiple cabins + luxury would maybe earn more cash...

I love my orca. Use it as an engineering taxi and for open cargo CG's.

Its got a leftover DD5 thrusters from my clipper and i think it boosts to 615.

Once I could afford an Orca (from Alioth), I immediately ripped the FSD out of my AspX and installed it in the Orca.. Felicity does good work.

I actually just finally sold the AspX hull today. The Orca isn't a means for something else. It's an end in itself. I took it out on a couple of runs to replenish my cash reserves from the purchase, but I don't use it every day. The DBX is my workhorse.
