Write system names in galaxy map

(Rift user)

For commonly visited systems, I use either voice attack or just raw bookmarks.

If I am in exploration mode, I do not type in system names. That gets tedious really quickly since you can't see the names easily in the galaxy map. For that, I have configured my joystick to be the x/y axis translate, z axis translate is a rocker switch on my throttle, and zoom is my coolie hat. This allows me to navigate without typing system names.

If it is an uncommonly visited system that I have not bookmarked, I simply blind soft-type. I can find my keyboard easily, and find the home keys. Once I have those, I can type away without much issue. My fingers still sometimes find the wrong keys, especially with "-", and sometimes with numbers. So, you might have to keep an eye on what is actually being typed.

bookmarks here too...
The map really needs a lot of work for vr....its pretty poo...an onscreen keyboard evan would improve considerably

Just found this post about the use of keyboards. Just got a T16000 throttle and only need the keyboard for typing system names. Any ideas on how to get around this without alt tabing out to copy and paste? I have looked at speech to text, using my android tablet as a keyboard and setting it up in voice attack. They all have their own negatives such as running other background programs or too complicated.

If you have a WMR heaset just say 'Torch On' and 'Torch Off' to switch the 'through the lens' view on and off.

I can remember when I wouldn't go near a WMR headset but these days, MS are pushing feature releases so frequently that I wouldn't buy anything else.

Does anyone know if a similar feature exists for SteamVR? I'd love to activate my camera with a keybind/HOTAS

The only option I know of is the button on the headset, which is not convenient to turn the camera on/off.
