Writing is on the wall

Hey Commanders,
The recent news about consoles took a lot of people by surprise, myself included. Months of assurances that Odyssey would be coming to consoles were all empty, and now that Frontier has closed further development I can only wonder when they will turn off those servers for good. When will it happen? Who knows? A year, two, five? How long do console players have left in Elite?
Because of this, I feel compelled to complie a bucket list of things to do and see before Frontier pulls the plug. Get in as much flying as I can before Frontier's shortsighted decisions kill this game completely.
So aside from Sag A, and all the other touristy stuff, is there some sights that I absolutely have to see before the game goes away?

This isn't a "short-sighted decision" by FDev. This was a strategic decision.

I am very sympathetic to the console players as I know I've invested thousands of hours into this game and would be very, very disappointed if I were in that situation. For PC players, it will be even worse if that day ever comes because most of us have invested a lot of money in our setups.

For bucket list stuff, I think you can search the forums... there's a bucket list thread or two out there.

If you didn't take part in the original expedition of 3305, I highly recommend following the Distant Worlds 2 route. It passes though some of the best known (Horizons) content so far discovered. Plus its a historical journey that won't be around for much longer once Odyssey completely takes over and Horizons is discontinued.

Try to find where I keep my stash of stuphz, and my bush of razzles.
I already figured out where you hid it months ago. It was on the dark side of Beagle Point planet 2, 200 km south of its equator and hidden behind a large outcrop that's embedded in the western edge of a rather insignificant crater, which is illuminated only once every 309 years by the star light of Andromeda. You kept it in a box, with a sign on it saying "beware of the leopard".

It was a lucky guess but it paid off. Thanks for all your stuphz. (y)

  • visit every sector of the Galaxy
  • unlock every codex item in one or more (or all) galactic sectors.
  • see how many Earth-likes you discover
  • raise (or crash) the influence of a faction in a system
  • choose a ship and do every type of mission with it, especially those which are less suitable (I loved running passenger missions with a Vulture!)
  • learn to fly (and dock/undock) with FA Off
  • SRV acrobatics (maximise the number of barrel rolls, somersaults or backflips you can do)

Pick a station that's in need of repair and pick a number to repair it and then do that.

Attempting to solo repair a station will yield at best ambivalence or at worst disappointment. You could enjoy Elite a lot more in the time it would take you to solo repair that station, and in the course of attempting it, every speck of ability you have to enjoy the game would have long evaporated. Those numbers aren't made to be done by individual commanders. Just pick one, do a bit, and go "that's my bit". Just as good.

There, made it more lore friendly.

Spoilsport!

I almost want you to have found it, as that would be an excellent place! Sadly I confirm it was not my stash though, as you have no reports of injuries from the family of angry badgers. They are my wardens.
