Sorry for the necro, but I'm just wondering what people think of this game in 2020. It's on sale for $16 USD. It looks like the other X-games are also on sale. I've not played any of them. Is this or any of the others worth getting? Is there one you recommend over another? Of course I'm interested in VR, but I'm also interested in 2D titles as well.
To answer your first question, I've been playing X4 Foundations for well over a month (200+ hours). I've never played any of the other X games.
I like X4F so far but I'm easy to please. The game has a lot to do and manage. There are a few aspects of X4F I've asked for in ED since 2015 but will most likely never be added like crews for example. Plus, you can get up and walk around the bridge and into a "teleporter"/elevator; and you can walk throught several parts of the stations. The X4 galaxy is small compared to ED/Stellar Forge and its fully rendered Milky Way galaxy but its fun to fly through with the nice scenery and lots of interactions to chose from.
There is another thread here that has more comments on X4F so I won't put much in this post since its for X Rebirth VR. Suffice it to say, X4F has a lot of fixes to make it more polished, like a big improvement in collision mechanics and yes there are bugs; but they're not so bad it ruins my enjoyment of the game. I've only played ED a couple hours since I got X4F. enough said
