Game Discussions X4 this looks Very good

So I want to get back into this game, but refuse outright to do the monotonous station scanning.
The end result I'm looking for is to be able to buy various blueprints from the various races to build my own ships/stations.
This requires good standing from the races, for a new start game, what are the in-game mechanics to boost relations that do not require any station scanning?
Doing missions. Trading. Killing criminals. Killing criminal traffic around stations. Completing kill missions near stations while having a police licence.
Starting new game+ and editing faction relations

When you start a new game, you have the option to "transfer" your faction reputations from your old savegame into the new playthrough (not sure if you must use a custom game start in this event).

Boosting reputation can be done by fighting the faction's enemies in their sector (just fly a bit to the edge of the sector until some mining ships spawn. they will usually be attacked by Kha'ak, Xenon or pirates). A few trade ships with sector trade or mining ships with automining also help with gaining reputation passively. The volume of the transanction isn't as important as the frequency, so you're probably better of with smaller and faster ships (e.g. M sized traders) than with one or two L-sized ships.
Last but not least: Do missions for the faction. Reparing satellites and destroying minefields/Laser turrets can be done fast and easily.

Hmmm, I do have old save games from when Split DLC came out...

As others have mentioned, I personally assign a couple of medium mining ships to work for factions I want to rep with, which increases both my rep and my credit balance in the background as I run missions, defend stations from Xenon attacks, etc. I just bought my first medium miner in my new beta save, which will pay for the next one, rinse and repeat.

I think there's a mechanism that allows you to steal blueprints from a station using a security slicer or something like that. IIRC you board the station, go to either the security office or engineering, run the slicer, and you can grab a blueprint. I plan to do this someday to gain my Paranid blueprints, since I love their ships (they have a Trek / Orville vibe) but I don't want to be allied with them.

(Pre-Split game) I used blueprints from 4 different races in order to fabricate my ships. Best weapons, best engines, hull, etc. I allied with all of them in order to purchase the BPs, which is my preferred way.

You may have to load the old save to unlock the new game+ boni. It's like achievement points earned for milestones. You get to spend these points to tailor new gamestarts but it's all optional.
Cool, I had used one mod (learn all the things), so not sure if that affects the bonus you're talking about?

If you're using mods, have you looked for a "allied with all" mod?

Too much talking about X4, not enough playing! I'm talking about myself, of course. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to log in and watch ships crash into stations with glorious new tumbling physics. If only Keen could fix the pathing issue.

I run vanilla, having modified save might impede the unlocks for new game+, but I don't know for sure. The points can be earned in any save game. You hit a milestone (earned number of credits, reputation gained with X, discovered sector, etc.) and it's active for your account. So if you have an unmodified old save you can check any out for that.

On my Katana docked on one of my Raptor gunships taking some RnR with a beautiful view. So fun

I run vanilla except for nostardust and a few hours of learnallthethings early on, in a new game save. Plus this gamesave doesn't have any PHQ benefits (an RP thing ... it doesn't exist yet) so no research and no teleportation; you have to move between ships via S class shuttles or Ms between XL ships and stations. I'll start another gamesave soon and do all the hi tech stuff again. This one's been fun.

Found my 2020 save game, and is thankfully compatible with cradle of humanity, although I didn't go exploring to verify the galactic map is actually updated.
Now i have to figure out all my strategies with my various sectors, stations etc.

Anyone went to the big "anomaly"? Huge structure far off in one of the sectors? You can see it with bare eye, but you might not have seen it because it's actually quite small to the eye. I modified a paranid scout with nearly best travel speed and made it go for half an hour and determined it must take a couple of half hours to get there - its size didn't change much.

Upon firing up my 2020 save game, but with split and humanity DLC added, a new mission has popped up @ my headquarters, "gravimetric" mission.
Is this related to new DLC? There's a funky new style ship 20 kms from my homebase sending out waves.

They take kinda painful effort to not break any save game. It's one of their major directives.

Terran DLC I say. If you start as Terran you get a neat introductory mission chain that gives you a unique point of view - which I found very refreshing. The mission is due to there being 2 terran factions iirc.

Over the weekend I had my first encounter with a Xen I, I guess they were introduced in split or humanity.
Not fun, but fun.
It, along with a K appeared in an adjacent sector to mine.
So i threw a fleet of 5 Behemoth vanguards at it ( holdover i had before I got the HOP L blueprints).
One Xen I destroyed the fleet within a minute.
In a panic, I started to build a defense platform on my side of the gate in case they showed their faces in my sector. It's been 2 1/2 years since I last built a turret, I couldn't remember which weapons did what.
Reconsolidated my fleet at that gate too.
I think my fleet ended up being something like wings equalling 75 Ares, 80 Nemesis Vanguards, 5 behemoth Vanguards, and 30 Odysseus Vanguard.
Defense platform consisted of 10 turrets (no time to build more).
No I don't know how the AI works in this game, because those two Xens were sitting in the adjacent sector for an hour, and they didn't touch one station there. Just lumbering around, doing no damage.
Sure enough though, they found my gate.
The I first, followed closely by the K.
Ships converged, turrets fully firing.
The fireworks were spectacular.
The turrets saved my fleet, the I concentrated on them instead of my ships. I came away mostly unscathed, lost 7/10 turrets, and 1 Nemesis Vanguard.
Even with all that firepower, the I took quite a long time to down, the K was nothing.

Xenon? K and I are capital ships. The others are small fry. If you decouple the thrusters on a fighter (FAOff but stabilised roll, yaw, pitch axis) you can enter an orbit around a target and take out the surface elements (ease of this depends on the fighter you pick, found it very easy with Split fighters, e.g.). The capital ship guns are too slow to react to buzzing bees in such close orbits. The approach is the tricky thing - best bet is coming from low and behind.

As always, you may see vast difference depending on your presence in sector or "out-of-sector"
But turret station should do quite fine. We had epic examples here in the thread. Beams are weak but I like the light show. Like WW2 AA searchlights.
