X52 Pro mode wheel

I've recently moved from PS4 to pc and got the x52 pro. It Was working fine for past few days, sorted all my bindings out was going well, booted it up today and the mode wheel macros I had set for combat, flight and landing is no longer changing my pips in game,

On the throttle led it's showing as normal, cycling through the modes all well and good, but it isn't changing the pips in game to what I'd set them up to do, I'm new to pc going and this stick can anybody help? Clutch is disabled and I've uninstalled and reinstalled all the software and drivers no change.

I am a bit confused by what you mean by mode wheel. To me the mode wheel is the one on the top right of the stick. Or are you using the wheel scroll up/down on the throttle?
Are you using the x52 software for macros?
A copy of your binds might help.

There's a wheel button on the flight stick, which cycles through modes you can set up in the Logitech programming software, so I did that when I got it and it worked I could cycle through 3 presets I'd programmed for pips in game. So mode 1 combat mode 2 flight mode 3 landing. Booted the game today and when I scroll through the modes in game using the wheel on the flight stick the modes are cycling on the throttle led like normal but not changing anything in game

Make sure that you have the correct profile loaded into the X52. I have to reset it every second day or so, from the tray icon.
I assume you have a macro that says something like: Rst, Syst, syst; or Rst, Weapons, Weapons etc.
I've found that having the windows USB game controller properties open stops keystrokes being passed to the game.
Maybe a copy of your binds might help.

Every other button translates to an action in game, it's just that mode wheel that's not for some reason, when it worked fine the last few days. I'll have another mess around with it see if I can figure out what's going on with it.
Thanks for replying appreciate it

I've tried everything now from uninstalling and reinstalling everything even the game and the mode switches on the joystick even though they light up, and change the led on the throttle and have been tested in the programming modes software and all shoe as working after 3 days of playing elite they have just stopped working only had the hotas for 3 days proper annoyed

I know this is a stupid work around but I have a few buttons that straight up don't work unless I do this. On windows open Control panel>Hardware and sound>devices and printers. Then right click x52 pro open properties >advanced. You should see some colored lights that indicate when buttons are pressed on the device. Just leave it open while you play. It completely fixes buttons not working for me, i've been doing it for years. It's dumb, but at least for me, it works.

It didn't work for me, but thanks for replying, I spoke to a guy who did a YouTube video a few years back on how to set up the hotas for modes etc who tried to troubleshoot it with me, even he was stumped but he sent me a link to his bindings I downloaded it and it worked, but I can't do my own bindings so I'll have to figure out why, Logitech have been quiet and even asked fdev on twitter and they haven't replied yet either so will have to see

Even quicker run joy.cpl :)

That is the behaviour I put up with for years until I installed the software and drivers from Logitech. With the new setup joy.cpl needs to be closed or the s/ware will not pass keystrokes to the game. (So I've found.)

I’m intrigued, with my setup Elite does not recognise the X52 mode switch. To use it in ED, I need to put a keystroke or macro in the command field for that mode. (Third field down from the top, above the Mode switch.)

Yep, afaik the mode wheel doesn't actually send any input to the machine unless you macro it.

Set up the modes I wanted, pips for combat, flight, and landing just for easy access, worked fine for days, profiled it to the stick and tested it in the programming software, but when I boot the game those modes aren't working. Even though they are in the Logitech software so the button works fine. A Guy from YouTube who had a video out about the x52 modes years ago, I contacted him he sent me his bindings downloaded it put it in the ED game files, bindings folder etc and his bindings work, tri d it with mine still no joy it's weird...mine did work for 3 days but have stopped for some odd reason.

It is possible that your binds file is corrupted. Have you tried to compare it with the guy from YouTube's?

Yh I have tried multiple times, deleting the binds I had and doing a new one from scratch with no change. Uninstalled the software and the game reinstalled everything. Still no change the weirdest thing is that when I got the stick and start d playing it worked for 3 days then I had an orange sidewinder error crash message and since then my bindings won't work, but when the guy gave me his to download worked fine. It's so random and odd I don't understand what's causing it

Why not post your binds file here and someone will look at it?
EDIT And your *.pr0 with StartPreset.start

I'll have a look at that when I get on the pc thanks

My bindings and the way I had it set up was exactly this AND it worked fine for days, then yesterday it decided to stop working.
When the guy who created this video sent his bindings to me they worked but mine don't very confusing

That is a good tutorial for setting up your Logitech software. The next step would be to check what your bindings in Elite are and if they match. You can find your customised binds files in AppData.

%username%\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

should get you there.

Open StartPreset.start to see which file Elite is loading then open that file in a text editor or an XML editor. I use Microsoft XML Notepad 2007 for that.
Again, if you are not familiar with this sort of thing. Just post the files.
Remember in the tutorial Bret Riverboat was using binds supplied by Voice Attack. Not necessarily the ones you’re using.

I think I figured out what might have happened, so it was working fine, then the day I got an orange sidewinder crash it went all bad.
It must've deleted my keyboard commands I've rebound everything and it now works correctly. Thanks for everyone's input it was all helpful o7
