X52 Stick Mod

I got my X52 Pro stick a few weeks back, and I've been having a ball with it. Yes, really pleased, but I did feel the joystick was a bit floppy. I know there are vids of mods showing how to reposition the magnets, but I didn't really want to start making drastic alterations to a brand new stick. However, I did notice there was another mod that involved slipping a home-made disk made from an old CD stack container lid.

To cut a long story short I have made a more simple replacement, which is basically a 1mm steel washer with a u-shape cut into it to allow it to slip onto the shaft easily. The beauty of this is that it's easy to slip onto the stick shaft once the springs are compressed a little, and another can be added if necessary. I've been using it for a week now and it's really improved the stick's performance. I'm still experimenting with one or two, and probably will end up with two. As far as I'm aware it's not interfering with any warranty and it takes less than a minute to apply or remove.

I'm sure there are many that could make their own, but I have a few spare, so if anyone's interested I'll be happy to stick a couple in the post for you to try. ;)

Yeah no problem - when I get home tonight. It's really not rocket science as it only entails a 30-35mm dia 1mm washer with a 13mm hole in the centre which is slotted so it can be slipped on/off easily. Thinner/thicker washers could be used to give flexibility to the user's taste. Dead simple, but it works for me! :)

Anyone interested feel free to PM me with their address - only a few but I may be able to get some more done if there's interest.

I did the CD cover mod and used it for an extended while...
I decided I didn't like it. it made too many ticking noises as it kept rotating agains the direction of your movements of the stick.
And it made the stick to stiff.

I recently removed it and now I like my flying even better.
Finer control and less strain on my arms using it.

You could well be right over a period of time. I guess it's a trade-off one way or another. But as this is a really simple mod that takes no real effort. At least folk can try it to see. I may well end up doing what you've done, but when I removed the washer the stick seemed to lifeless and there was so much more travel to get full pitch etc.
