X55 Rhino Button Layout with Reference Card

Update 1.5

Update (v1.5) to my X-55 Ultimate Profile has just gone live.

Major TrackIR update, plus quite a few fixes, additions and improvements, all working for Powerplay 1.3 update today.

Changes in this version:

- Added an uninstall .reg file for the Analog 'Nipple' Stick Windows mappings so you can easily remove.

- Refined TrackIR sensitivity. Have 'greased-the-wheels' increasing the speed slightly of the tracking, and reduced the weight of the locked zones a notch. Result feels lighter, more fluid on the movement while retaining good locks on side panels & centering. (If you prefer the slower feel from 1.4, you can continue to use that older profile in conjunction with the newer Saitek & ED 1.5 profile updates or visa versa.)

-Bottom Rotary Mapped to Flight Assist Off (Down dial) & Reverse Thruster (Up dial) (For those using Forward Only mode) toggles. To use, turn rotary down to full lock to engage Flight Assist Off. It will remain Off until you turn the spinner back towards center. This gives you access to both push to hold and toggle for Flight Assist Off to suit the situation. Likewise, turn the spinner up, and you will change thruster to reverse. Leave spinner centered to disable both. I've left the top rotary button as reverse (hold) in case you want to use both FA Off & Reverse at the same time.

- Analog 'Nipple' Stick is now mapped for Headlook mode (for those without TrackIR).(POV Hat remains mapped as well for digital inputs.)

- Holding both Mode Switches #1 & #2 together now exits menus (old mapping of Mode Switch #1 & Pinky Trigger remains mapped too).(Note: This is not shown on the reference map.)

- Swap Yaw-Roll toggle is now mapped to Mode Switch #1 + SW2.

- Swapped Rotary Dials on Throttle base,; Screenshots are now on RTY 3 & HUD/FPS on RTY 4.

- Moved TrackIR On/Off to TGL 4 (UP) so it is on the same toggle as TrackIR Center TGL 4 (DOWN).

- Moved Jettison All Cargo to SW 4 (Uses same key as Cargo Scoop with Mode Switch #1 pressed).

- Moved Chaff to Button B (little side button) on the Joystick, removing the need for a Mode Switch (more responsive in combat).

- Moved HeadLook Center now on the Throttle Scroll Wheel with Mode Switch #1 pressed.

- Moved Ship Lights to SW5.

- Moved Rotational Correction to TGL 1 Up.

- Moved Flight Assist (Hold) to Pinky + Mode Switch #2 instead of Mode Switch #1. (You can re-enable the FA Audio now as it will not trigger when navigating UI menus)

- Moved Microphone Mute to red button on throttle (Easy Access now).

- Forward Only Throttle now has a deadzone to help lock 75% throttle (blue line). This also provides centering deadzone if you are using Full Range Throttle.

For those using previous versions, please update all 3 profiles (ED, Saitek & TrackIR). There were some changes to the profile files in Powerplay which mean older version may have issues, or require some remapping.

**Note on Future Updates**

I will no longer be updating my X55 profile via this forum. All future updates can be found at the Steam Guide I created: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=456122613

I will be updating the forum post for the last time shortly, but I will post here when I do an update for those still following the thread. Just bookmark or favorite the guide for future reference.

Hope you like the improvements!

Thank you. :)

Thanks for sharing your layouts guys (and gals), gives me a lot of ideas in regards to my own setup, will share my updated one a bit later. I particularly like the push to talk button, thanks for that idea! : P

Yes! Great info. Spent my first 20 hours with Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless resurrected from my MS Flight Sim X days. After a lot of 'creative' mapping especially to get the hat switch workable for cockpit view, I realized how much I regret selling off my complete CH Products setup (stick, pedals, throttle quadrant, etc. man they would have been awesome).

I decided to get the Saitek X-55 Rhino, like others over the Thrustmaster Warthog which is currently ridiculously priced at $499 US. For the cost vs quality issues in relation to the Warthog, no way. Saitek at $199 US is a better deal and I've been happy in the past with their products. Plus, when I get the Occulus Rift DK2 I will be in heaven. Just saw a YouTube with in game Occulus live, holy cow, that is truly amazing.

Input devices are a personal thing to be sure, but I appreciate the information in here. Regardless of search entries, in the forum, I can't find much about the Logitech Freedom 2.4 plus the short polling time on the cordless toggle is ridiculous--in combat and connection times out, ugh, no more, getting a cabled stick.

I'm new here and trying to understand how to get my Saitek X55 setup to ED. I tried the profile from Saitek but doesn't work. Is there any profiles that work with this game? Or do I have to make one? Or is it I need to print up the Button Layout Reference card and go into ED option and set it up that way?

Sorry for all the questions.

I use the original one that Sandcracka posted at the beginning of this thread. It's been rock solid for me and he even posted the button layout.
Give it a whirl!

I have made 2 hand rests now. One is about 13mm high, and tapers to nothing for the little finger. The other is about 25mm tall, and also tapers down at a greater angle for the pinky. I use the 25mm one, and my brother prefers the 13mm one on his X55. I've attached mine with some double-sided tape, and it's great.

I'll sort out some photos of them. If you've got some neoprene you could probably build up the layers gradually (superglue them together) to form a nice shape that's comfortable and allows you to reach the pinky buttons.

I may get rid of the raised edge around the little finger, just to increase mobility. But frankley I could print any design, and am happy to do (simple) requests.

this is absolutely nice.

Are there any more models - maybe 3D STL Files for us normal people - that we could send to 3D Printer shops?

I had the Idea of buying some modelling clay and try and make the perfect rest for my hand - problem is how to model it in 3D.. I have a student license for 3DS MAX and Maya though.. maybe I should work into that :)

if theres a model to start from that would help (for the right size for example)

- Added Handbrake mapped to Ship Secondary Fire on Joystick.
- Added SRV Turret mode swap mapped to Chaff button.
- Added Scan Datalink mapped to Heat Sink button.
- Added Drive Assist Off mapped to Flight Assist Off (Both Hold & Toggle - Default is On).
- Added Vertical Boost mapped to Ship Thruster Boost.

- Set new UI Panel behaviours to work with both TrackIR look and Panel overrides.

Note: Driving commands showing in Red can be changed from the Ship controls section (Mapping to Ship Control behaviour will auto-assign the same command Toggle/Hold to Driving Controls)

Hello Everyone.
I just purchased an x55 to try and get back into elite dangerous (been out of the game for 9 months or so).

I have been going through all the posts to try and find a good layout/keybinding setup and after more than an hour reading all the posts in this thread, ( and over most of the day in others) I am a bit lost.

Can anyone recommend and link a good bind file (maybe even the picture too so I can print it up and not forget as I am playing) so that I can run some of the training exercises and get my flying back down?
Before I used my keyboard and mouse and was pretty good at flying around etc.. but this is my first HOTAS.

Thanks in advance.

I think binds are personal and depend on your playing style. As for printing them, this link is what you need.

This is my current set up. View attachment myx55.1.8.zip I run Horizons, this file may not work for you if you don't. It also needs unzipping.

Hey guys, in need of help with my x55.

The buttons on the stick have stopped responding if the stick is left in the center, but if I tilt it they work although sometimes will get stuck. I've tightened up the two screws at the bottom of the stick where the pins are and two at the other base where the pins touch the circuitry. Nothing.

Took apart the stick and all connections seem to be in order, nothing is even remotely loose.

nvm: got it fixed finally. it was that hole ridden plastic piece between the stick and the base shaft. Overtime it bent outward to the top and I assume it was causing connections to be severed during lack of pressure when not tilted. took it out and everything works perfectly now. why is that piece even there and why is it cheap plastic?
