XBOX controller NOT recognised in game - HOTAS and rudder pedals working ok

o7 - I have a HOTAS (Virpil CM3 and VKB Gladiator) and a USB XBOX controller plugged in directly to the PC but when I try to use the XBOX controller for walking around, it doesn't work.
Elite doesn't seem to recognise the controller at all as I cannot assign axis or button presses either.
I am using Joystick Gremlin for my HOTAS keybinds, not sure if that makes a difference?
Any help much appreciated.

Probably a limited issue - I have two Virpils, a USB XBox controller, two keyboards (wired), a wireless mouse and a VR headset and don't see any problems in this respect. Then again, I am neither playing Odyssey nor do I use any joystick helper/translator programs.

I wish I didn't have to use Gremlin but ED has a 32 button and axes limit doesn't it?

Does the controller work on its own with no joystick/throttle attached?

Have you installed the Xbox Accessories app?
Xbox Microsoft Controller dont understand plug n play

The controller works fine in every other game and is even recognised when Elite is running by Joystick Gremlin, just not in ED.

I didn't have this app installed by default, I do now but the controller is still unrecognised in game. This is crazy.. I have no idea why it wouldn't be working.. I've tried without Joystick Gremlin running but still the same issue.
