Xbox Elite controller button mapping

Wasn't sure if there was already a thread on the new elite controller. So far my upper left and right paddles are throttle Down/Up. Still can't decided on what I want the lower two paddles to be. What are your guys setups?

Mine are all paddles off as I have fat finger syndrome.
Basically now I have a super expensive normal controller.

Others though have lower left and upper right to trigger the next fire group sequence.

I only use 3 of the 4. Like you two are throttle, the third is the button that when used with the other two cycles the firegroups.

I have X and A mapped to the bottom two paddles, with LB and RB mapped to the top two paddles.

I actually use that config for Destiny and other shooters, but it also works well for ED (although the "A paddle" doesn't really get used much).

I currently use the default setting on the controller with a larger right stick to help maneuvering whilst landing. Puts Y on the bottom right and B top which is perfect for fsd and boost. On the left I have x which is perfect for selecting landing gear / cargo scoop. Then A is the top left which means you can target and cycle targets. No need to release the sticks whilst flying. Haven't tried combat in it but for general travelling and docking it's perfect

Nope. You can only remap existing controller buttons/triggers.

That is ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE!
You can EASILY remap the 4 paddles on the underside of the Xbox Elite controller (given that you are playing on a PC, but that's how I read your question when you were talking about remapping to other functions NOT on the controller. If I am mistaken I apologize in advance).

You can even remap them to fire macros of several individual keystrokes and mouseclicks in rapid sequence, which is very valuable in melee combat or dedicated combat games.

Is it possible to map the paddles to landing gear, scoops or even the external camera?

Absolutely - many people reply no because they have no idea what they are talking about or have only researched the subject superficially. See my reply to MrWhippy above.

Small Paddles (set to bumper buttons): Forward/Reverse Thrust

Big Paddles (set to LS down, RS down): Lateral thrust

I have my paddles set for throttle, two on the left throttle down, two on the right throttle up as I kept hitting the wrong ones accidentally when they were all different,

Throttle down is mapped to left stick click, throttle up mapped to X then both mapped as above, this frees up my bumpers which I have mapped to next firegroup, and ECM,

Y is flight assist off, A is next subsystem for easy module targeting, Heatsink and SCB are A + LB/RB, chaff if I have one is X+LB, I just use the Y context menu for triggering FSD, alternate controls are A + down, some other minor changes for context options

oh and the most important one - boost is still B but deploy landing gear is now Y + RB, not boosted inside a station trying to land since

play around with it until you find something that suits you

Guess you did not see that this is posted in the Xbox One section.

On Xbox you can only Map them to existing Buttons.

So MrWhippy is right

Besides that nice Thread Necro [big grin]

I have the throttle set to the upper paddles and removed the lower since I always seem to bump them by mistake. I also mapped the landing gear to the throttle paddles (press both at same time). It was nice to finally get the gear away from B button.

No, on the Xbox you can not program the controller like this.

I love when people who have no idea what they're talking about tell others they have no idea what they're talking about. Especially when they're replying to a thread almost three months old.

A little harsh bearing in mind he did presume using the elite controller on pc and he even apologised in his post if it wasn't.
And I thought the xbox crowd was supposed to be the friendlier side... :D

And then he goes on to tell everyone else who replied that they have no idea what they're doing.

He even responded to the same post twice.
