Xbox One Launch

I'm on xbox one.
I have made 15 mil in my Hauler so far. Hauler has been my only ship after sidewinder.
I really want to buy ASP but I've heard that on reset, when game launches, our ships will be taken and some % of it cost will be returned in Cr. I'm not sure how much.
Any tips? Almost less than two weeks left. Should I continue to grind in my weaponless Hualer or buy ASP.

Also I have played for 34 hours and I've made about 15mil. Is that an alright rate? I've been pretty much only doing delivery missions the entire time. Not that it matters, because I'm really having fun, but I just want to compare with other people.
It just came to mind. If you really enjoy trading, buy yourself either a type 6 or Asp. You can make a silly amount quickly with either

Here are trading setups for both ships. I did include shields and the nefarious docking computer. Let's be honest. Docking again and again; over and over is beyond tedious.

Type-6 (3 mil to get):

Asp (almost 13 mil to get):

and compared to the nimble Cobra Mk III the Asp is a pig in dock, the visibility is cool, but its still a pig with some well-placed windows

I agree, the cobra is one of the more nimble ships & has a ridiculous boost speed. Where it shines is smuggling missions. Or even doing rare trading. But all in all it isn't as versatile as the Asp.

I think the opposite is the case, the Cobra is just as versatile (and much more affordable), its just less capable at each task...it can rare trade, but doesn't really have the range or cargo, it can mine, but doesn't have the extra spaces for added stuff (or more cargo space), it can fight, but the Asp can take down more targets easier. Also, the Asp has the room to keep multi-role capability around even when running dedicated to another task...like leaving on the scanners and fuel scoop while rare trading, or nipping out to go mining, or never taking out your 0 weight Refinery from the 4 slot...or rarely going without a Docking Computer.

Smuggling the Cobra would deffo get the nod, as it can run and nip into dock better, except maybe stringing a group of higher volume smuggling missions to the same more distant system.

Cobra for sure should be you're next buy, though I am going to be honest, at 15 MCr you could get into an Asp or Vulture as well... May not be a completely decked out version but it will do what you need it to.

Get the Asp on discount at any Li Young Rui controlled system. You'll save 15 percent on the ship and all modules. I got mine mostly fitted to "A" class for around 9 M Crs. Here's a link to where the systems are that sell at discount, page 28.

Don't wait for the full release, get it now and have fun. We'll all have to rebuy after the Oct 6 full release date anyway.

And most of that was bought at discount in diaguandri.

Hmmm...We agree on a lot of stuff regarding this game but I'm afraid that I can't agree with you here Ras. ;)

It takes some time and a change in flying technique to get the most out of the Asp Explorer to be sure. Especially in combat situations. For one thing, you certainly can't throw it around the same way you can the Cobra, but the ship is capable of some pretty cool and unique maneuvers when flown properly. And in terms of combat engagements...At least as far as NPC opponents are concerned, I never had a problem chasing down and destroying any Cobra that came after me.

It just takes time to master. A lot more of a learning curve than the Cobra which I would say anyone can do quite well in with very little stick time. I would suggest that you didn't give yourself enough time in the Asp to reach the "Sweet Spot" between you and the ship, and you were probably fresh out of the Cobra and were trying to fly the Asp like a Cobra right?

Then you reached your conclusion based on how the Asp doesn't perform at all like the Cobra? You reached a totally accurate conclusion. The Asp is not a Cobra by any stretch in what is truly Apples and Oranges comparison.

I personally prefer the feel of the Asp in close quarters combat over the Cobra Mk III. Flies very similar to the Python on a smaller scale, but close enough that I feel that the best upgrade procession you can make from the Asp is directly up to the Python. Because of this similarity in flight performance, you can take the same combat skill set developed for the Asp and directly apply it to the Python with very little changes to your timing and power management required.

At least that has been my experience with the two ships to this day. One of the reasons I still keep my Asp around is that I can jump back and forth between my Python (which has taken over the top spot as my main ride) and the Asp, and it doesn't feel weird at all.

Dude, you overlooked a huge qualifier in my statement..."in dock".

I've always maintained that the Asp belongs in deep space, far away from other large things, it only turns into a flying pig with good visibility when its trying to mate with a BBSS (Big Beautiful Space Station), and honestly I'm sure we all look pretty clumsy trying to attempt the biological equivalent.

The apparent inertia alone...

The Asp does slide around a bit, i give you that. It is a lot like the python. You actually 'feel' the mass with them. The cobra even full up on cargo stops on a dime.
