XBox One X launch is imminent... any news?

With the launch of the XBox One X only a few weeks away, I was wondering if anyone had heard anything more on how ED will run on this magnificent new console? I know they said that a patch would be released, but that's not saying much. 4K textures would be awesome, but I am more interested in things like draw distances for planetary textures, framerates, etc. Have you guys/gals heard anything more that rumours or speculation? I've already pre-ordered mine (giggity!).

Wait for it.....
"soon(ish)"
Seriously, nope. It's coming, but nobody knows when.. Lol

Arrrgh! I'd prepared myself for the inevitable "soon"s, but hearing it hurts just the same. :D

I've no doubt they'll patch the XB1X with a nice 4K patch pretty much right out of the gate, I was just wondering if the improvements would go beyond simply a higher resolution. I guess time will tell.

We can judge by PS4/PS4 Pro, I suppose. So we may get optional quality vs performance settings at the very least for 1080p resolution. Anyway, PC game has so many levels of graphics settings, it seems trivial for FD to find proper one for new hardware.

I wouldn't judge by the PS4 pro as the xbox one x is a lot different.

Meaning the PS4 to PS4 pro was a overall boost whereas the xboxone/s to xbox one x is going from a system with ESRAM,DDR3 and stuff to new Hardware without both ESRAM and DDR3, new vapor heating stuff in addition to overall boost even noticeable above the PS4 pro.

I'm just hopeful that we don't have a game breaking update.....a lot of existing games haven't released any new info on their xbox one x update......to me that is concerning as only new games in October or late September have info.

That leaves over 70 games with no info less than 30 days away and no large update files to grab ahead of time. This might be a bad launch in terms of games being ready if everyone waits until the week before.

talking about breaking the internet....in a bad way...
Just being honest as I know a MS employee who has a couple of games with the update files....odd that they've had them for over 30 days but no news for the public.

Honestly, I think we'll get just the same two modes as PS4 Pro. The "performance mode" will be 60 fps with the current graphics (probably more stable than on Pro) while the other mode, for which I don't know the name, will probably be 4K, or checkerboard 4K with the same unstable framerate (again, a bit better than on Pro). I was hoping for some kind of overhaul but the reality of multi-platform development seems to kick in slowly, so for developers it's easier to just copy the Pro features. That said, I'm still waiting for some official description about what One X owners will be able to look forward to.

But just to clarify, only very few developers have gone into detail so far about this. I guess most "Enhanced" games will be just some higher resolutions and more stable framerates, but nothing extraordinary (like new effects, PC ultra settings and the like).

I’m ready to get it and ready to fork the $700 it’s probably going to cost...my main concern is getting it too soon. Things like these are best put off for a year when real testing and fixes can be introduced...AND newer, sleeker model wth more on board storage comes out for same price.

its a trade off get it at launch or wait for better version. Heart says get it as soon as it’s out. Brain says wait and see...

I don’t follow the logic of wait and get a better version.....this is the better version of the original two Xbox one consoles.

$499 confirmed tho not $700

my wallet just gave a big sigh of relief. I’m guessing things like HOTAS and the elite controllers will all be adaptable to the X?

"4K" can mean a lot of things. Native 4K or checkerboard 4K? Apart from the number of pixels performance is more important. Will we get a stable 60 fps at last? Will we have to choose between better framerate or better graphics? Many questions to answer, unfortunately Frontier hasn't commented on it yet.

Notmally if 60 FPS were a goal it would’ve been mentioned by now. I’m not for certain but it seems they will offer two modes, one being graphic, textures and resolution and the other being performance based with some upgrades but not all.

Considering one of the worse games ARK is running an awesome mode in 4k and a awesome mode in 1080p we should be in for goodies. That game was 720p for a while and sometimes hits 900p but looks like 540-720p still

Ark will 'not' be in 4K

Gotcha not quite 2160p...but that’s a big leap from where it is today. This suggests Elite Dangerous could have significant upgrades.

In a statement made by the studio, Studio Wildcard confirmed that Ark: Survival Evolved on the Xbox One X will feature HDR and two graphics modes. The first is a "Detailed Graphics" setting with 1440p resolution and High setting at 30 FPS. The second is a 1080p mode which equates to the current Xbox One graphics, with improved 60 FPS. Those with a 4K display will benefit from the 1440p resolution and those with a 1080p display will also receive a boost. Though, you can also run the game at 1440p and enjoy the supersampled visuals on a 1080p display. The choice is yours!”

There is no other game so badly optimized as Ark. If ark can do this EliteDangerous can do much better.

The future is bright.
