xg9 lance fighter ammo bug

Can someone explain how, and why, the bug with the xg9 lance fighter STILL exists?

For those that dont know the lance fighter is bugged, it deploys with only 1 round of ammunition, fires, and is fully depleted. Multiple people have submitted bugs to this well over 3 months ago.

The lace is effectively 100% useless, how is this still a bug?

We've been asking that question on various things for years.

The thargoid heart bug was a repeated annoyance for aaaages but I think it got finally squashed recently.
The only way I've seen bugs like this get the personal fdev attention is by getting a reddit post about it to 4k upvotes, the mods in this forum to make it a joke line like Open Only posts, and for various elite Youtubers to make videos on it.

As they said in a recent stream, their focus is on game-breaking and performance bugs, lance fighters being near useless during a thargoid invasion isn't on their priority list.

I thought it happened randomly? I'm sure i've seen my Lance flying around shooting (until it runs out normally).

I have definitely see it just flying around doing nothing as well because no ammo.

Its not a matter of its usless during thargoid, its that its 100% broken. It gets a single shot and then its out of ammo.

It being useless against thargoids is what ever, but its STILL broken in that its launching with a single shot then out of ammo.

This...can't be right. So you take your lance, that is supposed to be a thing that works against thargiods, and it breaks. And it's been like that for months. Wow...looks like frontier is having a hard time turning this expansion around.

I wasn't referring to the guardian SLFs being useless in active AX combat, as much of a problem as that is, but more that Fdev aren't paying attention to fixing their AX-designed ships during the onset of a new Thargoid War. You would think that as they ramp up the new AX storylines that they would focus on AX bugs a little more, but nah. Fdev won't pay attention unless the community goes all Protestant on them and nails a letter to their front door.

Odyssey or Horizons? I've noticed people mention that the issue only affects the former.

I've noticed that if you launch the Lance in Horizons, refreshing the ammo, docking it again sets the ammo count to 80. Switch over to Odyssey, launch the fighter, it's got a full stock of ammo. It'll eventually run out again though, requiring another double-relog.

This is not good during a Thargoid invasion.

Its not actually just AX ships, The ammo bug affects ALL SLFs - its just that with human SLFs the only ammo they have that can actually be depleted is heatsinks / chaff so its less obvious. The chaff / heatsinks do have the same problem. It can also happen in certain situations if you let the NPC fly the mothership and the mothership has plasma slug weapons.

It just goes to show the state of things behind the scenes if they can't even fix a bug like this.. Honestly we've had to cry for years just to get them to fix other stuff it's sickening and unfun at this point.

They must be in a disasterous state if they can't fix core game mechanics like this. Multiple game loops are prohibited by some of these bugs.

Ax fighters are not the most popular I think. Fixed beam SLF are usually considered amongst the best.

I always use SLF in combat myself, and never used an AX fighter. Starting from my first combat ship after the sidewinder (crusader), I always carried a fighter bay in combat.

How can it be still a bug? 18 April 2022, more than 8 MONTHS!!! still bugged what is still frontier programers doing something or what? now its not a matter of how popular are the figther is just is a feature of the game that is broken and even if just 1 player uses it MUST BE FIXED because thats for what you payed for!, what is going on with you frontier? how can you let a bug like this be a thing after this many time?!?!?!?
