You do NOT need to reach the "top" to get the hat for the Community Challenge!

So this is something that I have been trying to figure out for awhile now: What are the requirements to earn the hat in the Community Challenge. I've been asking all over, and never got an answer. But all this time I have been assuming you had to get to the top section of the Community Challenge in order to earn it.

Well imagine my surprise when, after releasing 14 Cheetahs to the wild, I suddenly got the hat!! Then I checked the ranking, and realized I'm not even at the top!!

Maybe others already knew this, but I haven't seen anything about this anywhere, so I figured I'd share it in case anyone else wasn't aware. Here's a composited screenshot I put together of the full outfit as well as my current ranking in the Copy Cat Community Challenge.

(And yes my graphics are very potato. But hey, other than the Animal Market screens, my game runs fine, so whatcha gonna do? 🤷‍♀️ heheh)

Good to know! Thanks for sharing this tip.

This is only the third challenge since I started doing Franchise zoos and I only got as far as the shorts on the last two trying to do the breeding in my main zoo. Pause the game so much to manage everything else I just don't get too many generations in such a short time. I've made a new zoo just to raise cheetahs (and some other stuff to fund it) and I'm already really close to only getting 14 releases!

You're welcome! And grats on being so close to 14 releases!

I have been doing really well with my main zoo, just doing a bunch of very basic habitats and stuff. Making over $1 million. So I rather went all out for the Community Challenge. I made 5 identical exhibits, with a pair of cheetahs in each, and I'm rotating them around to continue the breeding chain and (hopefully) prevent inbreeding. (Not sure how far it tracks inbreeding in terms of generations.) Honestly, all I wanted was to get the hat. But I think now that I've got it, I'll continue with my experiment. I am really curious to know if, by the 5th-6th generation, when I cycle them back through, if it will register any inbreeding. (It's going to take awhile for me to solidly experiment with it, because I've had some poor luck in my first few generations, not getting enough males or females and having to buy a few more from the market.)

I will continue to release the cheetahs I don't need back to the wild. But I'm not as fussed about reaching that "top of the community" thing. Whatever I get after this is just icing on the cake.

@Kitherit I've read that it only tracks 2 generations for inbreeding and my own personal experience seems to verify that. I add a generation and parental lineage tag/symbol to the end of every animal's name and when I get to generation 3 I can breed them with generation 1 without inbreeding taking effect. You basically only need 2 habitats to prevent any inbreeding, the kids of habitat 1 can always breed with the kids of habitat 2.

They already addressed this in an announcement:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/franchise-mode-maintenance-and-community-challenges.530962/

If you're able to maintain this ranking, some extra gifted animals :D

Somehow in all my searching, I missed that... LOL Thank you. I'll give that a thorough read!

Edit: After reading it, I now understand that the outfit (and the credits you earn) are part of a separate reward system. For awhile now I have wondered what the requirements were for those rewards, and the actual specific requirements aren't detailed in their message. However, I now understand that it is likely a series of pre-determined numbers that, once you reach those numbers, you earn the associated reward. It's only the rewards you earn after the challenge is over that is based on how you did compared to the rest of the community. I think even if I had read that announcement prior to earning the hat today, I still would have been confused about how exactly you get the outfit parts, because I can be a bit dense or overthink things sometimes. LOL

Whoa, that is good to know! I'll have to give that a try, thanks!

Wanted to quickly thank you again for this information, made it easier for me to just stay focused on my breeding zoo. I got the whole outfit last night. And to celebrate, I treated myself to a Hotdog Squad Jumbo dog!

For this challenge you can have 16 rewards maximum and the 16th is at 60 releases. If you are on top tiers at the end of the challenge you will be rewardind gold animals and CC more than if you are in other tiers.

That's good to know! I may keep pushing to get up to 60 releases. But I've been pushing so hard in this game recently that I'm ready to take a step back and relax with it, instead. (And play some other games instead, which have been on the back burner.)
