You have betrayed our trust Frontier. This is not the way to treat your customers and backers

Premium Beta player here, and my thoughts are the polar opposite of the OP. In fact, my thoughts about the OP are, "what a load of tosh".

And as for dragging "Offline Mode" out of the ground for another beating, one of Elite's principal designers noted in April 2013 that Single Player Offline was not the main focus of development. Guess what? It turned out to be exactly that; so much so that in 2014 it got thrown in the Big Round Filing Cabinet in the corner. Ask for a refund or make your peace with it. Complaining about it in June 2015 is just being obstreperous.

That is why i do not back games on kickstarter and do not buy early access games. Most developers do not care about anything but money. When i look at ED kickstarter page... well, what we have is not even close to what was promised initially. And the direction of development is only moving it further away from that. And online-only has no excuses other than "want more money".
I understand those who still have hope, i probably still have it too.... but if it fails, well... at least i've bought it after release and did not spend whole lot of money...

What he said, also "obstreperous" good word

I don't want to be associated or Identified as a backer any more.
I feel disgused by the behaviour of the few that claim to speak for the rest.
Disgused and Ashamed.

Meh - I don't care. Gives me time until I either get a useless main menu button I'll simply ignore (best case) or will be shoved Galnet news about how Azzkickr2002 is the "champion of the galaxy" down my throat on every occasion (worst case).

The later CQC is ported to PC the better and judging from past updates, FD wont even try to deliver the game imagined in the DDA, but betrayed? No - I'm just a PB peasant, but I got quite a good €/hr ratio out of ED compared to other titles.

Was worried they would get something exciting as an exclusive, but all the worries disappeared like Vampires in the sunlight, before they turned them into chick flick material.

Quite simply not in the target audience for this CQC.

My parents used that word a lot in my childhood. Usually about me. :)

This week's whinefest is particularly silly from a software development perspective. The company I work for sells a particular product on seven different platforms, to a bunch of different customers. Each platform, each customer, adds to the breadth, diversity, viability and reach of the product. It is one product, one source set, built with seven different target platforms.

Adding another platform doesn't "steal" resources better spent on existing customers. The product is better for it... because it's one source base.

Adding new customer-targeted functionality adds to the base product. The product is better for it... because it's one source base.

And at no point has a customer said, "You betrayed me, a Linux customer, by adding AIX support!", or "It's not fair that the newest customer should get ABC new feature first! You just want their money! I was here before them!".

Because that would be silly. Wouldn't it.

All this betrayal talk reminds me of this event:

That was for the XCom revival. No, not the excellent XCom Enemy Unknown, but the game that was going to come out before that (but thankfully never did, in part due to outcry like this).

The difference was, in that case, unlike this case, the cry was accurate ;)

If I've learnt anything in this life, it's that guys like the OP are usually the first to go down during the many Zombie Apocalypse's we seem to have nowdays. Usually crying, always whining it's unfair as walkers nom on their limbs.

The moral of this story is swings and roundabouts, or something.

OP - I think you're absolutely off your rocker for this post. As a backer I don't share your concerns in the slightest, and view Frontier's strategy as sound business that will help ensure this game continues to thrive. I also couldn't care less that XBOX one get CQC earlier than us PC players, and don't see how this amounts to lies or deceit by David and Frontier.

We backers did our job.

After waiting decades for info on Elite IV we saw the kickstarter and literally threw money at them. Job done, they got our money and the trap was set for the bait-and-switch. Now the focus is on consoles because Frontier can't resist the money M$ threw at them, we no longer matter we are no longer the targeted players. "Thanks for believing the tripe we fed you, now get lost"

^ EXACTLY!! I said pretty much the same in another thread

This post may get removed but I am gonna write it as it is how I feel.

I believe we were seeing what was intended all along. I am beginning to feel they used the love for the 84 elite to hook us to beta test for what they meant to be their primary goal. Alot of the features here are more suited to a console environment, I think this was meant to go more for the console than it ever was for PC but they knew the PC crowd would make up more of the that loved the original and the genre. We were basically the funding due to make this.

The DDA/F feel more like they were a bait & switch as it was used to get the funding for this yet seems very little if nothing of what was there is making it into game with the way the updates look so far.

I hope I am wrong but it don't feel like it

This company has shown their true colors for sure now. I just hope people like Chris Roberts are watching this and treating it as a template of how not to do business.
