Hi,

I have bought the game directly from Steam store, created a Frontier account and linking both services, but when I go to Partner Keys, it just says

Your account is linked to Steam.

You have not purchased any games eligible for partner keys.

You may however log into a third-party below to link your third-party account with your Frontier Developments account.

The key you generate for Steam will add your games to any Steam library but WILL NOT GRANT ACCESS TO ELITE DANGEROUS/HORIZONS without a registered Frontier account and a copy of the game. For this reason, please do not give your Steam key away to a friend! They won’t be able to play without having already bought the game from Steam or from the Frontier Store.

Whats wrong?

Nothing is wrong:

Just to clarify - since April 2019 all Steam purchases of Elite Dangerous (and DLC) are "no CD Key" - i.e. you can not obtain a CD-Key / Game Code by going to Manage when you right click the game in the Steam Library. So you have to link your Frontier Account with your Steam account as per the FAQs linked by @Robert Maynard above and you launch the game via "Steam Login".

no you cannot - read my post above yours and see the FAQ if you don't believe me:

N.B. There is an exception - some purchases via third-party do have the CD-Key version - I have an account via a HumbleBundle sale that does have the CD Key / Game Code and I can use that without going through Steam.

The point is that there is no CD Key in steam to actually enter! If you can see the CD key in Steam library / manage / CD Keys then yes you can so as you say but (in general) all purchases after 25 April 2019 do not have this. Yours (and my humblebundle one) are exceptions.

hmm ... does it mean no "Odessey" for me? I don't want to swap to steam. I played 1 hour there. Then they had maintenance. Then steam & launcher started infinite loop over - updating each other
Since then I play standalone.

Hi everyone,

This is the solution for many of us when we have difficulties to link the accounts Frontier and Steam.

As you can see in the picture, for many of us, there is no direct link foreseen into the laucher to link the accounts (despite the fact it didn't seem to be: in that picture i am curently connected to the frontier account).

The link proposed by Alexzk allowed me to link the accounts directly from the frontier store https://www.frontierstore.net/. After that I launched the game with Steam and it worked.

This solution should be proposed to new purchasers to avoid tickets (and avoid many complains: it ruins the game's reputation in Steam)

One thing that the help and how-to skips over, you must confirm your Frontier account from your email inbox before any username / password will work.

it's the same error with no clarity as to which may be the root cause.
