Found another surefire sign today. Coming back from Sagittarius A*, about 3500 Ly from populated space, routing at around 1000 Ly (basically coming through systems at random) I just jumped into one that has previously explored by a CMDR Blake Dragon.
Apparently that dirty rotten scoundrel explored it on one of the previous expeditions
