The other days are for the mods to get some sleep.

"Hi T.j"

"Hi Ian. Did you know Bran is aiming to give himself a heart attack, and is asking for sponsors?"

"He's doing WHAT?"

"Yes. How do you feel about sponsoring him?"

"Hell YES. Anything for such a good cause :D"

Hi Bran, I'd be happy to sponsor your valiant efforts! When is the great day?

This weekend I didn't get to play any ED, due to illness (myself and my new son-in-law and daughter).

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Best of luck, Bran! I'll be cheering for you. :)

As for Elite - this weekend I did about 3 runs for the asteroid base CG. Yup...that's about it! lol.

I spent a little of the weekend doing stuff around the house to help the wife. Vacuuming, shampooing the carpet here and there, moving apparently random things from place to place. She thinks it's amazing and it really takes no effort on my part.

And that left the lion's share of time for playing ED with the wife happily encouraging my "off time". :)

I spent the majority of it unlocking engineers and upgrading a small ship for one of my alts. I went with the Diamondback Explorer this time. I forgot how fun that little thing is to fly. I need to finish it up, which means swapping back to my Asp Explorer for a little while. Gotta unlock Palin for those G5 Dirty Drives. My Power Plant was having fits until I got the G5 overcharge on it. It can now handle 2 PAs and a beam. Got a god roll on the charge enhanced distributor, too.

I might swap that beam out for something a little less heaty. Maybe a cannon.

As usual Bran you are being totally inconsiderate to those of us who can't play at weekends...... namely and most importantly ME!

My selfish mother in law turned 70 this weekend, 'er indoors should have really dealt with it but oh no, 'Theo go get the cake, Theo come help get the hall ready, Theo go pick my sister up, Theo help the DJ set up because my sister wants to sing, Theo, tidy the hall after the party, drop my sister home', that was my Saturday.

Sunday comes around and I was on garden shed, fence and lawn duty as well as other hubby stuff.

So Bran, walk away in short jerky movements pal, and TJ and the moderation team - we will never forgive or forget.

Yours sincerely

Grumpy old English exile somewhere in South Lanarkshire.

Can you tell that the mods were alerted to this at the same time!? ;p

Drop me some details of the Torture Run in PM, Bran. I'll let a few folks in the office know about it.

As for Elite, my time was completely unproductive. I set out with the goal of getting some sweet, sweet Empire rank. Ended up bumbling around with a friend teaching him the ropes on the PS4 and getting my buttocks in the Cobra pilot seat.

Planned BGS actions got stalled by an unforeseen conflict pending on Friday, which left time this weekend to....

* end a couple of wars in a system we manage to return stability and peace
* fit a race imp eagle, and engineer the hell out of it (603 m/2 top speed; 803 m/s boost). Found myself a nice little "race track" for low altitude canyon flying >>> probably died more yesterday pulling off daring stunts at speed then in my entire ED career :D Rarely had so much fun killing myself repeatedly

Explorer's – Find anything interesting this weekend?

Not really. I'm on a slow leisurely trip out to Colonia and spending more time looking at planets than jumping (still trying to find an interesting non-beige HMC or MR). Scanned an undiscovered ringed water world. Found a slew of untagged neutron stars high above the galactic plane, one of which had two M class stars orbiting very close to it. That was a fun jump in!

Nothing ground breaking though. Didn't play all that much honestly.

Since this weekend, I'm on my Way to Colonia.

But there's a Catch :
Since I don't have the Credits to haul all my other Ships over, I have to do the honorable "Sir Scanalot" in order to earn more Credits.
More Credits - less trips, because otherwise it'll be far more than one. And more than 5 likely :D

So if "Sir Scanalot" stays disciplined and does a good job, the number of Transfer trips can be reduced. Work good & hard right now - benefit later :)

PS.
I already renewed the Membership in the following (unofficial) Exploration organizations :
- the Give Icy Planets some Love foundation
- the Distant Lonely Suns foundation

:D

Greetings from the black void!

You wait all day for a mod to come along and then 3 turn up at one!

Thanks for the support folks... Training started today and I'm aiming to do the run early next year. I'll be posting updates as I begin the torture and of course let everyone know which event I enter.

My weekend was spent looking at training plans and local running clubs. More info on Friday!

Planned
- Continue with my group's stated objective of putting as many nearby systems into 'Boom' as possible.
- Engineer my Python's lasers to the teeth.

... but then we got confirmation that our PMF had been entered into the game (whoop! whoop!) and so actually....

- Gave away more than 5 million credits in donation missions.
- Took rocky mining missions ... and went 40 (40!) rocks without finding any cobalt.
- Discovered a nearby 'Famine' system and co-ordinated a relief effort that delivered around 5,000 tons of food.
- Did my first 'tip-off' mission.

Faction's at 27% now and I've slept for about 9 hours in the last 48. Today hasn't been productive, unless you count this post.... which I do.

Welcome CMDR's,

I trust you all had a good and fruitful weekend?

If so, or not, then you are now required to give us your post after action report thing. Please give details on what you planned on getting done and what you actually managed to do... These things are not always the same.

Why are you so nosy Bran? Well I make these threads not just so you can tell us what you are doing but also to inspire others who may of hit a brick wall or be looking for something different to do.

This is your chance to inspire others!

Traders – Did you make a profit, if so what on and how much?
Pirates – Were the pickings fat or slim this weekend?
Bounty Hunters – Did you find your mark and claim the prize?
Community Goal's – Did you take part, if so how much did you contribute?
Explorer's – Find anything interesting this weekend?
PvP'er's – How was the weekends action? Any interesting fights you want to tell us about?
Overlords – Did you keep order in your system or are the rabble rising up against you?

I did some trading, and of course, I made a profit - wouldn't do it if I didn't. But as an Elite trader, I tend to do it less these days.
I don't do piracy.
I do bounty hunt, and this was a very profitable weekend indeed.
CG's - I always try to involve myself in these, as they typically include the two activities that make up the bulk of my time in Elite: Hauling and Bounty Hunting. I opted for an experiment this time around and built a Beluga I thought would be suitable for combat operations. Turns out it exceeded my expectations nicely, and my first turn-in was 5.8 million. When the CG completed, I was quite firmly in the top 25%. The haulage portion was getting close to complete, and may have completed by now - I'll have to look when I get home, but I was also well into the top 25% there as well.
Exboring is too hard for me to do, though the above mentioned Beluga is outfitted for long-range operations, and will be heading out into the black at some point in the near future.
PVP I just don't.
Overlording - I prefer to simply sit back and watch the tiny insects consume each other, under the illusion their choices have any real meaning. It's more amusing that way.

During my life I have been lucky to witness our ever changing attitude towards others with abilities that differ from our own. I see the Para and Invictus games making great strides to inspire disabled people lead a full and active life. I've seen life's transformed for others with physical/mental disabilities through the use of technology.

As I've grown older I have felt the increasing desire to give something back tot those in a different circumstance than myself and so I support Special Effect in their goal to help as many disabled people as possible get both fun and stimulation from video games as they are such a great way of engaging a person and their mind. This is also the charity which Frontier do a lot of work supporting too, our very own Galactic Intern is an ambassador for the charity and of course he hosts the 24 hours live stream each Christmas to promote them and raise funds. When I met Ed I was sure to thank him for the work he does as should we all.

Some of you will remember the little event I did during Comic Relief which I really enjoyed and it managed to raise a little money too so win win all round... Now it's time to raise the stakes... A Lot! As a 50 year old man who has never been to a gym since leaving school I don't consider myself very fit but also not overweight – I'll keep telling myself this – Therefore I have taken the bold decision to begin training for a half marathon... Why only half Bran? Well I want to do a full but the advise I have been given is to aim for the half first and then go on to a full length one later... If I survive is what I think he meant...

Now the only reason I am doing this is to get you lot to sponsor me or at least be inspired to make a donation. I'll keep the forums updated with how my training is going in my normal Weekend threads so you can all have some fun at my expense. My hope is that early next year I will be ready for one of the many events held around the UK. I would appreciate it if one of the mods could ensure Ed gets to see this, I know he's busy but he's also a great promoter of all things Special Effect!

Thanks for taking the time to read the above, now back tot he normal 'Stuff'

Oh, wait, that's all there is for now....

You all know the drill by now, tell us what you did this weekend and how crazy you think my plan is but of course, keep it clean and have fun... It is Fri... Monday after all!

Good cause - good luck!

The only thing I run is out of hours in a day. I couldn't fathom taking part in a marathon. But all the best to you - it's quite the personal challenge!

Good luck Bran,

I'll happily sponsor you once you post the details.

I hit 50 a month or so ago, and have decided to try and get fit again. Heading off to the Peak district for a few days walking - although I am staying in a pub, so what could possibly go wrong ?

Thanks!

Sounds like an excellent fitness you've come up with... Get me a pint in, i'll be on the first available trai... I'll jog there! ;)

Each week I'll post a little update in my normal Friday thread and once I think I'm ready I'll pick an event to enter and post all the details. Letting the community know about it now is to put pressure on me to do it, not just say it. :)

I, and a few others, spent the weekend doing exactly what we have been doing for the last three weeks. Working to overthrow a system with 8.4 billion population with the small chance that there is a brand new rare good there.
It will all be over, one way or the other, before this weekend.
