Your Thoughts on Gene Traits & Genome Level

What’s going on guys?

I have been binge watch a ton of let’s plays and am pretty impressed so far. One question that comes to mind that I have not heard a lot of people talk about is the benefits of adjusting the Dino’s Gene Traits and getting a Dino’s Genome to 100%. I know that the Dino’s stats (Attack, Defense, Life Span) increase along with its incubation price and prestige. But as a visual stand point, there is no difference between a 50% Genome Dino and a 100% genetically modified Dino. I find it a bit odd since the two Dino’s look the same, but their prestige level is different with no visual representation between the two.

One cool idea I thought of is fading or saturating the color of a Dino according to its Genome level. For example a 50% Genome Dino’s color is 50% faded and dull colored compared to a 90% Genome Dino that is only 10% faded and dull.

I know this was only a demo and things could change drastically but what are your guys thoughts? What benefits would you like to see when modifying a Dino’s Gene Traits and Genome Level?

There was a Cosmetic Gene Research Tree, so that's a possibility why they don't have a difference in physical features when it comes to genome percentage. But I do like your suggestion though.

I am really interested in the cosmetic genes we can toy with in game cause I am thinking of what we can do with the raptors. I know we probably won't see it in game but I would really want raptors with camo, like he Carnotaurus from the Lost World book.

The cosmetic tree does look like it will be interesting to see what skins are available for different Dino’s. I’m sure Frontier has made some awesome ones. I still think we need a way to visually tell the difference between a newly discovered Dino with 50% genome and a 100% genetically modified one with a super high prestige level. Hopefully it’s included in the final game.

It would be nice if they added DNA that could allow them to change gender randomly, like in the first JP film. So that they can breed and we can get baby dinosaurs :p

I think it would suit the lore too, or should be a consequence from messing with the genes too much.

I have been thinking about this as well and am very curious to how they will implement this in the game! Your suggestion for fading in color sure sounds not too difficult and yet significant for a difference. As long as there will be a stat difference between the 50% and 100% gnome then i'm good!

Defenitely aiming for high quality dinosaurs! On the other hand I wouldn't pitching 2 same species dinosaurs with a differen gnome percentage against one another and see the outcome.

Personally i think it is a terrible idea, Yes it was in the original JP but it was a mistake made by the science staff. Also the manager/money guy in the gameplay told them they had learned so much, i think it also includes that mistake. Also making dinos self sustainable breaks the management aspect of the dinosaurs as infestments. Why make 1 T-Rex if i can make 2 that breed all day long to keep my T-rex supply up. In the real world it would also be dangerous because if the dinosaurs escape they can breed and multiply. Another game aspect that would break is genes. If one dinosaur of the same type has modified genes and another less wich genes would the baby get? what if one has no modified genes, what would happen then? The only thing you could do is either random genes (this is a bad idea because it takes control away from the player) or select the genes from the modified one and if they both have a special gene on the same spot do it random ( also bad idea for the same reason) ( There is also a risk all your most aggressive dinosaurs kill the less aggressive ones then breed, giving you only aggressive dinosaurs. These will most likely have a higher chance to escape or start escaping).

I just think there needs to be more of a incentive to get to a 100% Genome Dino. I know their stats and lifespan is better but I want to physically see it being better. I also want to see effects of these extra trait genes you can apply to your Dino’s. As it stands now, the only insentive to apply these traits is getting a higher prestige level, which doesn’t make sense since Dino’s of the same species will all look the same. As far as attack and defense stats, do we really want our Million dollar assets constantly fighting each other?

100% genome

Alright. Maybe this doesn't belong here or it was answered before and I apologize for that... I ran into a little problem. On Isla Sorna there is a final Science mission to acquire 100% of different genomes. I can't do it, because the Pentaceratops dna is on 89% and dig site is empty. Like green-mark empty. Do I really need to restart the whole island or the DNA can be acquired through other option?
