Zoo Design

Thought I would start this thread for those that are interested in Zoo design and zoo history. Rudi posted a video earlier today that really got me thinking about this topic and thought it would be great if players and interested partys would go into details of zoo design and explain how zoo design has changed over the years.

I plan on starting with the Brookfield Zoo (Chicago Zoological Society) in the Chicago area. I have been a member of this zoo for many many years (until I moved to Florida) and have always been into the history of how the zoo has changed over the years.

I will make my first post on this topic in the next day or so, but here is Rudi's video if you are interested.

Here is Episode 2 - Big Cats

I also mention a few video links in the post and here they are.

Interesting video, especially because I love cats.
I will definitely try to make my enclosures bigger like what the plans are from the zoo for the future.
I even believe we can actually make something like that in the game with the terrain tools and paths.
It's obvious that when the zoo started out their enclosures were too small.

here are a few other videos that show off this area of the zoo.
After watching this video it was confirmed that the bears to rotate between the three enclosures...much like I believed what was indicated for the future changes for the big cats. This gives the bears 3x more exposure to new environments.

I look after big cats and we have 3 large enclosures all designed differently and I can say our two current Tigers love it when we switch and enrich them during the day.
