Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

It seems Inara or likely the data source it pulls from lags behind reality a bit. This is understandable from a technical point of view My mercenary rank jumped to 60% in defenceless today and I have not done another ground CZ since yesterday.
It already got to be a habit for me to hit the "IMPORT GAME DATA" button if I visit INARA after a session in the void, as I noticed that the auto update is quite sluggish.

Just to break up the non-stop war mongering, I've switched to a little stint of exploration. Just outside the bubble, nothing special, just meandering.

Anyway, I came across something that you interpid explorers may well have already seen - but they're new to me: rogue signal sources.

When you FSS then, they show up fine, but you can't target them or find them on the nav panel. Also, the FSS starts to get a bit funky and garbled:

Looks like I'll be paying a revisit to the system come Novermber end ;)
Aye, I came across a whole bunch of those about 3 - 4,000 LY North West of the bubble in various systems when I was on my way to Temple. I didn't go to investigate any of them though, when I had a lot of unsold exploration data with me in a ship with no weapons. Sounds like you can't go to any of them anyway if you can't target them.

If that one you've found is only just outside the bubble though, it might be the ones I came across have got a lot closer to where most of us are in just a few days.

I think I will go out to explore a bit in the next few days.
Yes might not be a bad idea that! I'm still doing my latest trip and am currently about 11,000 LY from Sol heading towards a megaship in the Inner Scutum Centaurus Arm region, where I'm hoping to sell all the exploration data I still have with me. If the bubble gets wiped out I guess I'll head to Colonia. :D

I have no need to run, quite frankly.
I happen to be in a different timeline, where the proteus wave and the Stargoids are mere rumours, sailor's yarn, spun by some disheveled commander at the bar. The only thing in a worse condition than this poor soul is their ship, which literally seems to be held together by some duct tape and good wishes. And probably a prayer or two...

I just now got out of my SRV to peer down into this valley, to see how steep the slope is going down there, but there's a couple of white dots down there that I think are the Bacterium I still need two samples of. Looks a bit scary to try driving the SRV there so maybe it's either walk or take the ship there. There's also some Stratum somewhere that I haven't found yet...

Also, speaking of white dots I'm not sure if those ones up in the sky are stars, Thargoids, Stargoids or something else but when out in space there does seem to be a lot them clustered together...

Prowled around the Cat's Paw Sector a while. Found a pleasingly golden ringed HMC.

And a moon with a view.

And an unsettling sky. Don't jump too high or you might not come down.

Oh dear.

Fortunately it was very low gravity. Onwards then to this disgusting sulphurous moon.

These bodies have been a little annoying, because both moons promised to have bark mounds and neither had bark mounds. That's actually 3 I've investigated in 2 days. I am now at the point I am ignoring a 4th bio signal of this type because it's just a total waste of my time to spend an hour looking for something that plainly isn't really there. On the up side, they were all geologically rich so at least I snagged a few easy scoops. Although I'm nearly full on everything at this point...

Anyway, I guess I was just lucky on arrival at the Paw, because I've not found any unvisited systems since the first. Got some good scan values which will turn into respectable reputation gains when turned in, but no first discovery tags. Think I will head northwestish into the galaxy, maybe gain/lose some altitude and see if I can find a patch of properly undiscovered space somewhere 😸

Also I found this somewhere and just thought it looked neat.

But then my PC had a rare (and mildly concerning) bluescreen and when I got back in game my SRV was nowhere to be seen and my ship was nearly 2km away... Well then.

I only have a grade 2 suit since I don't do fps combat, so this took a while. Fortunately the SRV was waiting for me back on the ship. I guess it autopilots home if the pilot falls unconscious?

On an entirely different note, is there a way to change my suit's skin without having to go back to a station? I can do it with my ship but my suit doesn't want to change in the game menu 😾

It's in day light and I don't think it is low because it's takes me half hour to win, and I don't think it's high because I can win. I have not figured out how to tell what type it is. It's Today will be the last day.
Just do me a favour and fight for the democrats side otherwise you are undoing my "work" https://inara.cz/elite/station/313119/

Last week (before Thursday that is) i wasn't too devoted with my Guardian research and i thought to fly back to the Bubble in my DBX (only 1k+ ly away) just to fight another war and add on ARX counter. And indeed you can not see what type CZ is from Sys Map, you can only see security level, so either a dropship, either you check them 1 by 1, while i was really so sure you can. I guess i never cared that much what i shoot. Once there however, you just look at the enemy soldiers - high will be golden chevrons, then silver and bronze for medium and low. My 1st happened to be bronze, but then next one was gold. Lost my SRV there too due to a stupid wipe. And then back to the research.

That's exactly what i'm doing right now during my Guardian run. I do not find anything (except ruins) nearby, so i just stop by bio planets. Sometimes things ar easy to find, and sometimes they're not. Most problems i have with fungi, that tend to grow in those little (very little, often not landable) valleys in the mountains, at least in this region. Means, to find something, you not only need to check inside the blue zone, but to check in a right place. So worth landing elsewhere if you feel like looking for them. I found myself usually starting from harder mountain areas to find out what grows there, as easier things like Bacteria, Stratum, all those Cactuses and Conchas are revealed after a brief flight through another valley.

On a side note, it looks like they're boosting Exo Bio payouts soon, as announced here:

Idk if to hold things from handling now then...

Officially you can, from your ship or SRV, change your suit cosmetics. It's however often returning an error currently, which is already reported and should be corrected soon (looks like Ody skins work).

Nothing new at my end of the galaxy, same ole - same ole, I thought this was a cool screenshot. I'm having a tough time finding Osseus, burned a full tank of premium fuel in the SRV just to find three.

Great image.

I find it much more economical, but only slightly less frustrating, to find things using my ship which at least I can refuel without synthesis.

I had the impression that there were only the eight of them but the signal is so strong it can be seen from all over the place.
They are a nuisance when you're trying to find mission related signal sources. So much clutter 🤣
Hmm.

So I could be reading the same eight signals from loads of differeent systems. That makes sense as none of them are targetable.
