Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I'm going to try an experiment. I have to go shopping and pick up the turkey for Thanksgiving and all, but I'll do it when I get back. I just stumbled into a system with three moons that have a decent array of biologics. Here it is:

I'm going to gather at least a couple from each moon and then go back to the carrier and sell it off and see what I get and post the results. It may be a while, but I'll get it done today.

That depends on if it's retroactive, which I wouldn't think that it would be, so what you have in your computer banks is what you're going to get paid based on the old model.

Otherwise, they'd have to upgrade all the data from the past in its entirety. I don't think that's going to happen.
Not sure what it will be, but I would have thought the old tariff will only apply to data that's already been sold - ie it won't be retrospectively increased. Data that has not been sold, whenever it was discovered will get the new tariff. Whatever though, we'll see...

OK, it's exactly as I thought: the price is already set the instant the system is formed.

Here is that sheet up above with the price I was paid off for everything I found. It is EXACTLY what the estimate said it would be:

And here's the proof screen shot from where I sold it off so you can match it up yourselves:

So holding on to what you have to sell it later isn't going to make one bit of difference because the value was determined the instant you entered the system and the system was generated.

So it's exactly the same as the rare magic items were in Diablo III - The item is determined the instant it dropped. The whole "identify it" thing is like selling it at Genomics, it's just a little dog and pony show that has no real meaning other than window dressing for the game.

That's the only way it can be done when you get right down to it. Otherwise, people could hold on to things indefinitely and get more than they should have gotten at some point.

Interestingly, MattG says that his plugin does use stored internal prices.

They're "known prices", so they're part of BioInsights. Prices will actually update (hopefully) this week, before U14 - I'm in the middle of rewriting a chunk of the internals of BI but hope to have something to release soon.

I'm really hoping it's simply a multiplication, and not individual re-pricing per species.

crashing mission ATM . can't seem to get out of it either, horizons don't see mission. And oddy does want to let me completed it, not even a partially completed, Screen given you the options of payment is completely blank. no options to selected.
I've no clue how to help with that one except maybe try a validate files from the launcher? If that's the one you use, natch.

You can hand in an Ody mission from your ship or a concourse terminal so perhaps try the other option to the one you're trying.

I'm clutching at straws, sorry :(

Found some different looking biologics, it's called Fumorla Aquatis, three bio-signs here with geysers. I'm going to look for crystals, I need arsenic.

Fonticulua Campestris, try saying that three times fast.

Bacteria.

I found some exobiology species attached to ice fumaroles a while back as well (forget which species it was now.) I love those icy bodies though - always fun to drive on in the SRV. :p
