At what point should we consider there might be a problem with the launcher update?

I've done the legacy legacy trick from my account page too ..
.. downloading at a decent clip. Is this just a ruse to flatten down the update day server load?

I'm a contractor working for a government entity, building an application that has millions of users. If it went down for hours that would be viewed as a serious problem. So i don't understand why people on here are thinking it's no big deal when Elite goes down.

What boggles my mind is that you specificially created your account here to write that.

It's no big deal because it’s not critical infrastructure, because millions of people do not rely on it. And you know what? It's no big deal because it was announced and planned well in advance. Like in „we close this road to do necessary work and we really like not being run over by cars. We estimate it’s going to take x hours, but you know how the world works, right? We might find another pothole here and there that was invisible because the road wasn’t closed before, so it might take x+y hours.”

In this case, as long as y isn’t bigger than x, everything’s fine by me.

I fixed it by re-downloading the original installer from my order in my account page!

sigh this is pretty flaky. Run launcher, told new version is available. Download it, run it, new version supposedly installed along with new shortcut placed on the desktop. Run the NEW launcher.. "Launcher requires Update". Stuck in a loop.

Followed the advice to download the launcher from the store, that was the fifth attempt which took longer than the four failures but worked.

I am now upgrading at the sync files stage will check on progress later.

Only if you ordered via frontier in the first place - steam games don't show up on frontier store.

Well, reading and comprehension issues should not be covered here (e.g. knowing where you bought things, how launchers/storefronts work or how to look up the version of an executable by hovering the mouse over it for 3 seconds)...

I am getting a newer version of the launcher is available, I download and install, start it up and get there is a newer version of the launcher is available. Tried uninstalling and same thing.

So the Frontier Launcher is downloading the wrong version of the Frontier Launcher and installing it? lol. Classic.

ìt is always 10h to update offline and a day to tackle newly created issues, most elite updates are like this, i don't recall the last time it went smooth from servers up to gameplay without disconnections or erros galore, classic frontier

Download the old one and install it. You will then have the option to upgrade to 14

Did you purchase the game from Steam?
