Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Yep. Nice for those that waited to sell. Unlike me. :p
In fact... Like they say, buffed isn't the word. Ye, it's like *20 (or more), a poor bacteria at 3m (was it at 100k?). I've only saved like 3-4 planets (mb 20 plants), not planned for anything = over 100m. It feels a bit like stacking massacres.

After I've done the download (or sounds like more than just one download,) I'll give the on-foot CZs a go in that system I'm docked in. (If the CZs are still there that is.)

After that, I might give some surface prospecting a go to see if it's been improved in Odyssey.

Oh and I still haven't sold all that exo data I got during that long exploration trip I just finished. (Even though it might still be on the same tariff as before, since I got it all before the update but whatever...)

Well you got ref above. Things start at like 3m, and if you are 1st to scan this, buff is buffed as well. In fact it's so big that it made me uncomfortable (i don't rly like to skip through ranks). I don't know how much plants you bring from the expedition, but my advice would be to sell by planets, or by 5-10 plants. That way you will at least see intermediate ranks. Idk maybe they made a mistake, bio was ofc underpaying, but not by this amount.

All that being said carrier upkeep in the black just got even easier to cover.

Aye just noticed that from comment before mine by @Codger (y)

I think I'm a cataloguer right now but did get quite a bit on that trip so maybe I'll go up a level, we'll see...

Looks like I will be scouting out a system near the front line of this new war tomorrow from where I'll start to figure out what to do to defend humanity.
I don't want to do combat all the time, so its fantastic that there are other activities that help in the war effort.
I wonder what the new Interceptor actually does...

To be blunt, BGS game play had got boring. Peace treaties everywhere meant player factions rarely attacked each other, so there was never a lot to do. Now there is a new purposes to game play.

Well done FDev 👏

I think my Chieftain deserves a Stygian paint job.
Green or Brass....

I have upgraded Odyssey so far, after also experiencing the loader version problem which was solved by downloading from the store.

What I have noticed so far is
  • That the hanger in the main menu screen is in a burning station with evacuation alerts going off. Which is disconcerting.
  • The new movie showing we are doomed (again).
  • My custom HUD colours are at least partly back to orange (not really a surprise).
  • The connection lines selector in the galaxy map now stays as set.
  • Lots of doom filters in the galaxy map.
  • My bindings survived.
Probably tomorrow I will download the Legacy options and do a brief trial to check they work along with trying the new Horizons I didn’t have access to before.

Well I fussed around in the game for a bit. It's running smoothly.

My graphics settings were changed, though, and the ugly FSR was turned back on. Everything was jaggy city, even worse than usual, until I checked my settings and set them back to Ultra (mostly -- I turn off Bloom and Blur) with no supersampling. Now it looks fine.

I went to one of the new Rescue ships to see what was going on. Nothing was going on. The ship had no missions, and no passengers wanting transport.

I went to a station in the same system as the Rescue ship, and it had some refugees wanting to be taken various places, and a lot of normal type passengers and missions. Nothing new.

So I'm not sure what the new Rescue ships are for, yet. They get their own icon in the Galaxy Map, so they must do something.

This is all I could see, it was really dark there.

I decided to do a quick experiment regarding the increased Exobiology payouts, so I went to a nearby planet which was known to have Frutexa Acus on it. Frutexa Acus used to be worth 400,500 credits.

Here's what I got when I turned it in just now. This is the base payout, no first-logged bonus or anything like that. It's more than 30 times as much as before.

I think I might just have to do a bit more Exobiology right now, before it gets nerfed. :)

Go team humans!

I never shot the aliens yet but I dolled up a Krait mk2 in anticipation last week. At this point, am def. leaning more pro-extermination. Hear hear! And here's to shooting those pesky space-turkey-bugs!!

So I'm not sure what the new Rescue ships are for, yet.

Yeah same with the one in Altair. But I bought all the kinds of experimental guns and stored them and shipped them to the Solo Orbiter (4 minute transfer in system). Beat em there too!

I was never one for invading Thargoid territory to shoot them, but defending human territory is a must, whatever the history.
I dropped into Imeut in my exploration / exobiology / scouting DBX to see what was going on. Got hyperdicted on the jump to the system. Had to run from that encounter. Entered Imeut and quickly got interdicted in supercruise by another Thargoid Interceptor. I had to high wake out of that one as my DBX only boosts to about 465m/s so could not escape mass lock factor 30.
My carrier will be in a neighbouring system by now. So next play session I can take the Chieftain into Imeut, have a better look around and see if the Thargoid Interceptor is a Cyclops that I might stand a chance of defeating.

Kind of over the top payments now. Exobiology rank will suddenly be too easy to gain. Perhaps it will encourage more players to do buy Odyssey and do exobiology and then FDev can dial it back to a more reasonable level.

I've now installed new client, downloaded and installed Odyssey update. Clicked the Horizons one (Live or whatever it's called) expecting another download but found it's ready to go already. Screen came up saying "Odyssey" when I briefly played it but it's definitely Horizons as there's no option to disembark from my ship. I haven't bothered to download / try out any Legacy stuff yet and can see no reason so far why I would ever want to anyway. In fact, so far I can see no reason to even want to play the Horizons live one but it's ready to go if I need to.

I'm still docked at the station from before update with the on-foot CZs and I'll give those a shot shortly, but just now I went into the Vista shop to see what all that exo data I still have is worth. When I checked it before the update it was worth 10 Million-odd CR but look at it now. :geek:

I still haven't sold it as I might do the separate plants thing as suggested by @Teiri. Or I might just click to sell the whole lot in one go...
