Exobiology Payouts

. I do think as I said before that the first discovery bonus is a good idea,
I agree. If new discoveries are something rare that pushes you to the Black, they should increase payouts. Same with Exploration. For just finding plant types already discovered, something like road2riches payback would be ok.

If any already discovered plant gives you 80m just because nobody went to that planet before… that’s overdoing it, imho. Specially if a new ELW discovery nets you 5-10m (can’t remember exactly)

I don't want to be the person who says that 80m for scanning three samples of something is overkill... No reason exobiology shouldn't pay well (although I've long argued that this is a game and the best currency should be fun), but yeah, it's gone from ridiculous to absurd in one pendulum swing. 😝 And since ranking achievements are a big motivator in the game it kind of needs to be balanced I think because right now hitting Elite in exobiology wouldn't be much of an achievement.

I'm a bit ambivalent about the rarity factor. For sure there are a few 'rares' that I've never come across, as in I've not come across bodies that would support that particular specimen. But then there's a number of 'high value' specimens that are everywhere, which is fine, and I think that for every high value specimen that I have found, they've not been rare but have been all over the place. It's all RNG, and no matter what the value is or even was, if I can't find something within ten or so minutes off I go, because it'll either turn up again on a different body and I'll find it, or it won't and I won't.

Has anyone else noticed that the amount Vista Genomics says its paying you isn't actually the amount its paying you?

I turned in 381 million worth of scans including the first discovery bonus and only got 149 million after checking before and after screenshots

yes, spoken about recently in the odyssey discussions section of the forums in the "Holy Moly at the exobio pay increase" or whatever its titled, 66.6% or there abouts of the value of what it says you're supposed to receive isnt being handed over.

Voted and included a screenshot of my balance and payout disparity in the comments also when I helped with getting the issue to the voting phase.

Nope, I got the full amount, minus my NPC Pilot's share, like always.

It seems to be affecting first finder bonus, so if you're submitting already found data then you'll not be affected. (I think!!!)
Ah I see. I haven't bothered to fly out for first discoveries yet. I just got back from a long exobiology tour, but sold all my data a couple days before the update. Such is life.

So, I just zipped back to my carrier and sold the little data that I had. 3 systems, 14 scans total payout should have been 431,527,000 (all first discoveries) according to vista genomics. My balance went to 10,130,268,969 an increase of only 155,351,720, so yeah, not actually getting the full amount... Still, got to Elite I. :p

To be honest 155 million for 14 scans (few were particularly valuable ones) seems quite reasonable to me and maybe those are the numbers intended and the notification in vista genomics is a graphical bug. Wouldn't be the first one in ED... 🤷‍♂️

I'm at 50% of my way to elite in exobiology, so I think, that I know, how many effort it can require, to be fair, when I look at amount of required effort, required knowledge, and gear (basically suit for what...100k?)+ fact, that even now we can find first logs INSIDE bubble I still think, that it is massive overshoot. 30x boost is simply sick. 5x for first logs is cool and all, even boost base values by 2/3 factor could be ok. But 30x? Srsly? more than 3m for scanning 1 flat bacterias, or space tea which is EVERYWHERE, once you find atmo planet with biosignals?

To be fair I would prefer rebalance of prices much more than...let's say "it" to avoid consequences.

Why things, which spawn in crazy terrain, are rare, and PITA to find were worthy 100/200k, when example tectonicas (which from my experience never required more than 5/10 minutes between landing and third sample) were for 800k? IMO it is bigger problem- things, which thanks to required enviroment are more rare, and which are difficult to find, because they example prefer very rough terrain- THIS should be the most valuable.

But my opinion is based on fact, that I'm not credit hungry guy, which could be happy with even 100x boost of everything, exobiology require practically nothing in terms of gear/uprades (same with ship, I prefer small dbx for few millions, than conda for hundreds, easier landings), and very little knowledge. Some species require literally few minutes to find.

Meanwhile people here are mad, because vista showed them 300m for nothing, and they get 200m for nothing, huh.

To be fair, other than the initial outlay the Vista Genomics isn't that costly. Even with the old rewards scan a Stratum Tectonicas in a first discovery scenario and you'd have paid for the week. And they are pretty common... :)

On my previous trip out to the black for six months when I started doing the exobiology stuff I didn't have it. Now I do and it's just a short nice change to disembark and go to Vista Genomics and sell my data. Wouldn't it be great if FD would program some variety in the spoken dialog?

Still, the buff in rewards (even if we do only get a fraction of it) is good. I actually think what we do get rather than what Vista Genomics says we are going to get is probably a pretty good figure. Let's hope they don't swing the pendulum too far in trying to correct things... o_O

well, previous values were buffed by 30 factor.
So it looks like that they boosted it by 3, and after it added 0.

With x5 factor for first logs it would mean, that even bacterias could give...well, 120k x 3=360k.
360k x 5 if first logged=quite good money for the most common thing, which is easy to find.
