We are winning, the tide has turned HIP 23716

Scaremongering: Given how well we've understood the UI up til now, do we think that is a bar that is full, or do we think this is a bar that needs 1 more tick?

Was at the Tarach Tor rescue ship the other day and the chat looked like this:

CMDR sumthin : Hey, dude in the cutter, can you hurry up and clear the pad?
CMDR dude in the cutter: Oh crap! I'm in open? I've been sitting here afk for like 2 hours.

When I was there the other day, someone called Funball18 posted this into the chat (I copied it simply because it was amusing):
---
on this episode of 'Docking Wars' we see brilliant ship design up to the challenge of hundreds of players trying to help war efforts in open play.

and well, It's not going well so far.

I presume the reason the two HIPs were chosen was because of they had the shortest time to Infestation State?
HIP 23716 I think was picked pretty arbitrarily (got to go somewhere). HIP 20485 was picked because they wanted to test an Alert system this week and you have more options for activities in a populated one (of which there are only two this week, maybe they flipped a coin to decide)

As far as what we lose to the Thargoids this week - barring some miracle:
- all but two of the Alert systems are uninhabited, uncontested, and will go straight to Thargoid Control
- a few of the Invasion systems around various maelstroms are out of stations, not meaningfully contested, and will go to Thargoid Control (e.g. Ixbalan, HIP 19934, HIP 7819). Their status panel on the galaxy map gets a red background to make the point.
- pretty much anything within 15 LY of the three arrival points for #6 to #8 is going to get stomped, of course.

Without checking everywhere in full detail I'd expect them to gain about 80-120 systems

Thanks for the update. Looks like I wasn't looking at GalMap properly. 80-120 is a lot but I think things will get easier over time. I'd expect a relative equilibrium eventually and I'm not sure if we'll ever trully push them back.

Looking at what the system has done now? Yes, that's a bar which needed one more tick.

This is what it looks like now, which is not ambiguous.

I note the formely green dot is now grey for Thargoid Controlled, or is that your GUI changing it?

It's good to see things change instantly and the actual recovery phase starting on the Thursday tick. At least we know now we don't have to wait until Thursday for the graphic to change.

Yep we have seen from past CGs that you cannot rely on Inara's figures as only a small % of the player base actually upload anything.

O7
Just to be clear, the CG numbers are regularly uploaded by ~50% of the goal participants, so not exactly a small sample. Of course, the percentage (to the overall player base) may and very likely is different for the Thargoid war, but I guess the percentage ratios between the star systems may still somehow fit. :)
