Spring dlc Speculation 2023

“Probable” chance for a Toucan in a birds pack?? They darn well better. More than macaws, birds of prey, or any other bird, a Toucan is an absolute must.
No no, the most important bird is objectively the Jabirou Stork. Without it the game is ruined, broken forever. Without the Jabirou stork, I will burn down my PC.

This is an objective fact, based on market research and studies done by major zoological institutions. Jane Goodall, John Hammond, David Attenborough, and Charles Darwin himself all agree the Jabiru stork is a must for a Planet Zoo Bird DLC.

Well... i will not complain if we get the jabiru lol will be useful for my project

I'm going to play devil's advocate for a moment since a lot of folks are predicting hummingbirds as the first WE birds, but tbh I don't see it.
With both the bats and butterflies, more often than not, they're perched in a resting position.
While it's an urban legend that hummingbirds NEED to fly to stay alive, they are indeed constantly, CONSTANTLY flying most of the time.
I foresee smaller to med sized bird (parrots, budgies, toucans, finches, kingfishers, etc) coming in first. Simple looped animations of them preening, head bobbing, or chirping while perched can easily work.
I'd actually find any potential wonkiness in their flight pattern far less jarring than predominantly stationary hummingbirds.

Well, just to rub salt in the wound, I'd say low chance of a toucan in a birds pack. How much do toucans fly in zoos? Not a whole lot. Walkthrough Exhibit now has six species that all fit the same mould; small, fast fliers, that live in large flocks. If we say the odds of getting flying birds are around 50%, then the odds of getting birds like toucans and macaws are much smaller, based on what we can actually observe without baseless speculation.

I think is one of the best packs, for its theming. I wouldn't say boring but it doesn't have the most exciting roster, is just a perfect fit for an Europe pack (still WAY more exciting than the Twilight pack).
It's a generally mixed roster that sadly didn't include the wild boar but represents the European woodland very well. Lynx and the badger are a very common addition to my zoos although I have never used the fallow deer 🤣. The theming however introduced wonderful stone walls, European town scenery and vehicle guest spawners. It's in the mid tier of animal packs for me

Many many people consider it boring.
allmost 300 new pieces that bring very new stuff to the game is the opposite of boring. If you actually engage in the building, no matter how good you are you will find something thats extremly usefull in the scenery and if its just the very pretty stone walls or dicals

I like the Europe Pack, but I can see why many would consider it boring. Whether one enjoys a DLC or not is completely subjective, and a lot of people aren't all that interested in European animals. I mean, I use the badger in almost every zoo now because it's a great starter animal/space filler but I wouldn't have ever missed it if it was gone. At this point the building pieces also readily get lost in the menu; I'm sure a lot of people don't even know which pieces came with each DLC or update anymore.

I've found it's harder for me to build with each new scenery pack because there are far too many options to keep track of. I love PK's build setup because they give you the base pieces and let you select the textures from there, whereas PZ has 25 different tall wall pieces with 25 different textures clogging up the menu. It's also getting to be really laggy menu because of that.

What is with this thread and people declaring their opinions as objective facts? I personally build mostly natural looking zoos, and don't find european animals very interesting, so I have little use for this pack in all its aspects.

I can appreciate the work put into the theming and animals, but to me it's one of the moee boring and useless packs.

But its not an opinion. Lots of new building pieces mean lots of new possibilitys. Ofcourse its upon each player if they actually make use of them, but thats not the fault of the pack.

I don´t know if you think it too, but i think we don´t need more scenery packs.
I know, i know, there are more scenery to cover, but i think it cannot replace more animal representations

May i genuinly ask, do people even try to use the new scenery pieces?
Because while i understand wanting more animals, when you actually use that stuff it feels amazing and very fun.
Frontier got better and better at designing new and versatile pieces and even with something as simple as wood they find ways to make it fresh and usefull.
In my latest build i used alot of conservation and twillight wood and ngl, especally the conservation wodden beams might finally end my overuse of the arctic wood.
As much as i love the animals, they really are just set dressing. The secenery pieces are the real gameplay of the game and it would be quite sad and a bit repetetive if we dont get anymore. Theres still so much ground they can cover, so many pieces they can make, hell if you ask me id absolutly appreciate a conservation pack 2.0 theme with even more tools and food items like knifes, tomatoes, syringes, better stuff to make furniture, etc.
Imagine a giftshop theme or a simple gardening theme with more flowers hedges and even more tools like hedge clippers.
Animals are cool and all, but really frontier just gets better and better with the scenery pieces and i cant wait to see what else they got in store

That is absolutely what we need. Maybe in a far-flung sequel.
I hate to think of a sequel game because it would mean no more support + it would be at minimum 5-6 years away, but in truth there are a lot of things I want that probably can't be added into the game as it is. A replica or a take on PK's build system, a slightly better path system (especially reworking collisions and how it interacts with fences, water etc.), the ability to add multiple gates to a habitat.
