What other games are we all playing?

I'm not sure I agree with this.. The only WWII game I played in 2022 (that I recall) is U-Boat, which I gave up on after about 30 minutes due to the high learning curve. I invested much more time playing fighting games like Soul Calibre and DOA, and those aren't even listed.

As for simulation, I wonder how much overlap there is with Space Sim. I feel like Space Sim should be #1, but if Space Sim also counts as Simulation (multiple tags), then my play of Transport Fever 2 and MSFS would tip the scales to Simulation, but only by counting Space Sim twice as Simulation as well. Exploration also overlaps with Space Sim, Open World, and RPG.

Maybe Steam is counting Elite as a WWII game, seeing that ships adopt a WWII flight model, LOL.

I just learned that you can never ally with factions that were allied with another faction you destroyed, as the game keeps the “at war” diplomacy status (and can now never be changed). I destroyed the Moors, that were allied with the Papal States, 50+ turns back. Now the Pope is from my faction, 70% of the Cardinals are from my faction… But I cannot ask for an alliance. Oh well.

Seriously, Orthodox/Muslims in the base game. You tend to have a bit more freedom. Although Byzantium is in a tricky spot and Russia takes ages to get going because of the huge distances, although is fairly safe for the early game. The Moors can go for the Spanish without much worry from other directions (although Sicily does love going for Tunis) and they get those lovely gold and other resources if they head for Timbuktu.

If playing Catholic, England is great for the bowmen and France has such an amazing roster and with both you can grab the British Isles without much problem and focus on economy there while letting your territories on the continent focus on military buildings and troops.

Also, if you mod the game, Papal states is OP. Good roster (Swiss Guard!!!) plus, any catholic attacks (or you attack them) you and they instantly become excommunicated. Not good for a serious game, but great for a laugh.

Most memorable were Venice. They got the hammerites. But I played almost all. I think French had hammerers too. I seem to member a very scenic castle assault with them going over the top first

But all in all, this year i played my Epic ED account mostly till I migrated my XB account to PC, then i played the resulting FDev account mostly

Is Wrath of the righteous any better than Kingmaker? Specifically is there a character present that utterly ruins the game that you meet right at the beginning and can't really get shot of?
Managed two whole hours of Kingmaker until all I wanted to do was erase that bard from any and all planes of existence. Permanently and with extreme prejudice.

What bard? An annoying NPC? Like that skull in the game where you die over and over to just get reborn?

Linzi. The voice acting is a high pitched squeal. Fingernails down a chalkboard type voice. To me at least

Right. I'm not really fantasy fan but been looking at these games for a RP experience. I guess I rather wait for Rogue Trader. Maybe BG3 but I didn't finish DoS2 either and the reports about sticking hours in character creation kinda puts me off. I did enjoy DoS2 to a point - it just got tedious and I hadnt even finished half the story. Fights just kept being too long. And there was a lot of vain fights I just wasn't ready for but tried anyway so I had to reload.
