ammo rack module - providing more guardian ammo

Guardian weapons are great for thargoid flowers, but materials for synthesis are pretty expensive. Its not possible finish AX conflit zone without several leaving for rearm or do synthesis. People hunting higher interceptors know it well. I suggest new optinoal module: ,,ammo rack" It could be limited for single class providing capacity like one synthesis. Lot of combat ships have small slots and they are kinda unused. Also it could be limited only for guardian weapons if you want.

Yeah, it would be nice to have the option of bringing more rounds to the battle. Synthesis is a cumbersome solution and needs breaks from the battle to provide the materials.
 
Complete agreement. Back when Thargoid combat was in the realm of an elite few, still very novel and used as a sign of red-baron-like skill, having handicaps such as low ammo was acceptable.
Now humanity is in a fight for survival. We need to equip even our most unskilled pilot with technology to combat them.
And for those who would say "but this is my uber-elite-status-symbol you're threatening by making Thargoids 'easy'"... go solo a Maelstrom.
 
Perhaps some engineering options for the (non pre-engineered) Guardian weapons but limit them to “utility” rather than “damage” mods? eg. High Capacity with G5 doubling the reserves and increasing the magazine by 50%?

Would save losing yet another slot in your ships and I feel like we have enough “pre-engineered give me loads of stuff every time you want to buy one“ McMuffins already!

Also, ammo reserves on Mod Plasmas and Mod Shards are pretty decent already so this would just bring Gauss up to the same sort of level.
 
What this boils down to is really a discussion about ammo synthesis as a whole, which is of course a stupid mechanic. To be realistic, proper combat vessels would be fitted with enough ammunition to last for entire deployments. Having low ammo capacities and providing synthesis is simply another way to induce grind. Having some form of customizable ammunition bay which can store reloads for various weapons is of course a far better option, but would be completely contrary to elite's focus on requiring material grind to play the game.

Do you know what is stupid mechanic? Fall off start. In the space vacuum there is nothing what can disrupt your projectil. Even bullet from multicanon... no slowing down, no air resistance, no gravity. It should be flying with same kinetic energy for years.

Well, haha, how long is the deployment, how many time are you engaging the enemy in that deployment, this is why the US navy has supply class fast combat support ships that refuel and re-arm their ships, because no-one knows how much ammo they are going to need for a full deployment. What you are asking for is literally infinite ammo, never going to happen;

I couldn't agree more.

I was secretly hoping ship interiors would allow one to fetch ammo from the rack in small ships, and for bigger ships npc/multicrew could do it as well.

Then my alarm went off.
