No Single Player offline Mode then?

Report me all you like, everything i said is true. If players do not care about online gaming enough to get a decent connection, how is that anyone else fault but their own. Unless they live in a cave or have no legs to walk to a shop i cannot see how a dongle could cost more etc..some of us care enough to work for and then spend the money others obviously do not place it as higher priority.

I do not live in a city and had to pay a lot of money to get internet connection installed i pay over £50 a month for it and over £350 for it to be set up before you say dongles are expensive..I know dongles do not cost £50 a month.

Many people have been abusive, got bored of hearing it myself and a few people hearing what i consider the truth about their childish ranting and general over reaction is hardly the worst thing that can happen in the world is it now?

Sorry to say it but if you look at my posts over a week ago before all this you'll notice i was incredibly polite and never got angry or insulting, people get driven to extremes.

Time has posted 150 times or something absurd in this thread and frankly its getting ridiculous...how much of his and other peoples feelings do you think the dev's need to hear on this topic?

They have made it such a big deal that now their moaning is spreading across the internet ruining the games release for everyone - That's the real troll move.

Don't wanna take part in the beta testing anymore? Already posted countless times explaining your thoughts on the matter?

Then ask for your refund and kindly shut up about it now please!!

Was that polite enough for you?

Report away if not, because an infraction/bann would not be half as bad to me as not telling people what i think is the truth about their selfish attempt to ruin the upcoming release of a game i have waited for now for over 25 years!

I think you are missunderstanding something. Some who have backed there have no possibility to play online because their work lead them in countries that dont have internet. Its the case of people who are soldier, medics over frontiers and all. I still have a dongle when i go in other countries and it still not work in all. Its cause of their infrastructure, not my internet account and such.
Some backer who are complaining are kickstarters backers, they are there since 1 year not since one month like you are ... that make a big difference.
Offline was intented to be there and its not .. its normal they are complaining.

The thing is space is so big and so many like to play in closed groups that really it does not feel like a multiplayer game anyway, so now I am thinking they would have been better to make just the single player game anyway.

I was judging buy the polls on this forum. Personally I could care less. After I read the Post by the Executive producer or whatever he is, I have 0 Hope for this game.
Let me Give You a Statistic that may shock You. We have been waiting for almost 30 yrs for this game. The last game that this guy did (Elite Frontier)was abandoned and it was Very broken. He hasn't done a good game in 30 years. I took a chance and I got burned, again after 30 years. Its not only the Offline play that is the Issue.

I just want my money back and y'all can have this game. I give up.

What an absolute load of rubbish that is.
Frontier: Elite 2 was an absolutely suberply phenomenal game and as far as I know stupidly popular.
Frontier was abandoned and it was broken? Absolutely not. Never had an issue with it at all. It was very very highly regarded.

I never realised the "it doesn't affect me so its not a problem" argument could actually, ever, get so much acceptance until this thread happened.

I will remember this, and use it in any applicable argument going forward, when [Insert Issue Here] affects [User Here].

Unless it happens to me, it doesn't matter and people should stop moaning. Gotcha.

So sad but true! I luckily don't depend on an offline mode, but I see how people who do are frustrated that they were kept in the dark until the very last minute.

You are absolutely right. When Diablo 3 was launched I was very disappointed that it needed an online connection. The difference is that there is really no technical reason why Diablo 3 can't all be local. So Blizzard (IMHO) did that purely for control over the game with issues like the auction house and such. As it is the game didn't do it for me anyway so I could care less. But had it been a decent game I'd of liked to play it when on a 4 hour ferry crossing - for instance. There is a legit desire for offline. But I can completely see (for Elite Dangerous) how it is just way too much work. For the sake of argument I'd say it might double the entire dev time needed. With cross platform issues it could easily be more, again in my opinion. So I don't think they take the decision lightly but I don't see how they could do anything else.

The single player offline completely was a definite in kickstarter.
And the multiplayer aspect of ED is not very strong.

Again NOTHING in the kickstarter was for certain, you understand this right?

As for the multiplayer not being strong, that has yet to be seen in the final release, if it fails the games done for,but then again there is still the solo mode.

EA and Blizzard have both said they had VERY GOOD technical reasons at the time why they could not deliver offline modes to Simcity and Diablo 3 respectively. They were adamant, it was technically not possible! Beyond the scope of their mighty abilities, that to do so would compromise the vision of their game and would wreck their careful designs!

... where have I heard this before...

Nailed it. +rep

DRM-Free is still possible. As many other games focused in online playing they just have to deliver a DRM-Free server with the game, so anyone can host their own.

Is this so hard to understand?

2821 posts are misleading since the majority of them are written by a few people. Not a strong argument in this case.

Sorry but i got the exactly same argument at Xrebirth release .. we all know what happened.
Its significant whoever posted more then normal, there are many people who posted only one time to say they dont agree.
They just need to be understood not banned like they have been by some there.
I am ok with online, but i also want this offline for the time i am out of my country. i will continue to ask and i think the game is not over about it.
Its just not the time now to have it :)
Btw cause of your Cmdr name i cant blame you .. i am a truly fan of Papy Boyington :)

Hard to understand? Why would you say that. Nope it is very easy to understand, but is there any likelyhood of this happening? Doubt it.

So I just checked Kickstarter, because I wanted to do the research for myself. I'm a pre-order / beta customer, so if I want I might well pull the trigger and obtain a refund over this, I'm still waiting for a more comprehensive statement before I make my mind up.

However... the Kickstarter T's and C's were updated and do apply to this particular project, and as it is pretty crystalline on the page that at £60 and above you will be provided with and I quote : "Physical DRM-free boxed edition of "Elite: Dangerous" plus all rewards above (please note: the disc in the pack is simply an alternative way to install the game - it will have the same online account code whether installed off disc or downloaded digitally)."

A tethered internet connection and ongoing account to Zaonce effectively means they've renegged on that promise, albeit without saying so. They can no longer legally follow through on that promise, so anyone who has backed at £60 and above is quite correctly entitled to request a refund on their investment and Frontier Developments is legally obligated, if the backer feels that Frontier has not made best efforts in this regard.

Just saying there needs to be a better way to ascertain true numbers then a forum post count. We all know how forums work, some are here just to ferment discourse on both sides of the issue.
