Going out in to the black.

Was going to comment that a very good reason to go to Colonia and open the engineers there is to get more blueprints pinned but I see someone else already made that point.
I started to head out and then it turned into a FC rescue mission. Lots of fun on this group effort to help a CMDR gete back to the bubble. :)

I'm kind of interested in travelling on a fleet carrier, while of course there's a trophy for doing so, though as fast as they are at travelling places, I'd miss the journey you normally make in a ship along the way!

Are you planning to make frequent stops and explore the general area, or will you make a "straight shot" for the centre?!...

Personally I went on my first long range exploration expedition (mostly to unlock Professor Palin) a few months ago, eventually going about 8,000 light years out and back, though with my limited playtime and taking time to "smell the roses", it took me about six weeks, which overall was quite enjoyable and useful, putting my name on several unexplored systems along the way - so I'll probably go the "old fashioned way" IF I ever want to go that far!...

More likely I'll take the best part of six months travelling to Colonia to unlock the engineers there, once I finally unlock Selene Jean (bloody painite!! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ©²), and never go any further!

So for now, I think I'll just wish you well! πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

P.S. I don't really NEED to go out that far, as even though I've never been there, I got the trophy for visiting Sag A already due to some glitch (while I'm missing one or two others that should have unlocked by now!! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

I had plans to jump and record al the Tritium mining locations, but then two CMDRs needed fuel to return to the bubble. My squad broke up in two teams to bring back these PC players, who tried to commit fleet carrier suicide. I'm now a few jumps from the bubble, but I have a crew of miners on my FC and we are making big money.

What's the point of playing if you understand that the game is no longer an online world? I can't bring myself to go into the game... For several weeks now, my mood has been spoiled. I'm sitting reading forums, hoping to see good news that Frontire will return the game to the console in the future.

It's still an online game, that plays 99% the same as it did before!

Indeed I was extremely skeptical would I even touch "legacy" after the split from "live" modes and the now separate, BGS, in particular after the Devs took some of our best "toys", CGs and Galnet.
ESPECIALLY after they dumped the Pacific Ocean on our dreams of new content coming to the console versions, I reluctantly jumped back into Elite on PS4 and thankfully, it was still just "good 'Ole Elite, only with a few of the bells and whistles turned off!

It still plays as well as it always did and you can still have a lot of fun with it and I've basically just being playing on as normal ever since!! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚

Of course I hope against hope and post everywhere half way appropriate, imploring the Devs to do whatever it takes to "restart console development", release native "next gen" versions of Elite with full Odyssey and "Live" support, while adding, "everything that they can!" to "last gen" and we will buy it!!

Also, I hope in a way that if enough of us keep playing "legacy" mode that the devs will notice that and it'll help them decide that consoles are still "worth their time" and they as said, give us some damn new content and hopefully, the full game again!! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ©²πŸ˜€πŸ€˜πŸ€ž .

Because the CG for the engineer in Colonia that does the shield banks didn't reach the required level for them to do up to grade 5, that's why!
Maybe it would have reached grade five, if it didn't (I assume) take place in Colonia!! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚

Indeed that's the first time I've heard about anything such as engineer skill being based on the results of a CG!

Was that the only one, did it only happen before the PS4 version's launch or did I somehow not know such things were happening with the engineers after I started playing?! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ©² ...

Sure I remember CGs concerning individual modules unlocking, but how good the engineers are, wow! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€πŸ€˜ .

The reason for doing it on Colonia was because A) that's where the engineer was going to be based and B) it was the players in Colonia who were asking for the engineer so they didn't have to fly all the way back to the bubble to do engineering!

Yep, during the CG period players had to engineer modules at the engineers in question to unlock each grade for that module, the more modules players engineered the higher the grade of module the egineer would have available for all players, basically it was a global unlock CG, the grades would be unlocked for all players as certain numbers of modules were upgraded;

Improving the Colonia Engineers

Each Engineer will start at skill level 1 for the modules they support and can increase in levels with your help. By completing upgrades engineers earn skill points for that specific module. Skill levels are per module type so for example if you focus on modifying Beam Lasers with Mel Brandon then Mel will get better at upgrading Beam Lasers unlocking higher level upgrades.

All engineers can be levelled up to support grade 5 of the modules they support. The engineer’s level up for everyone, not just the person using the modules, so working together the Elite Dangerous community can increase the grades on offer for each Engineer! There will be a local news article in the engineer's base showing their progress to the next skill levels per module type.

If you have any questions please post them in here!

Fly safe Commanders! o7

So the engineer responsible for Shield Banks simply didn't get enough community love to reach grade 5 in Shield Banks!

It's a very good idea, but I don't believe in it...

I think there would be hope if Frontire left the influence of players on the PS4, on the market and the world. For example, if players on consoles also killed targoids in the same system with computer players and this had an impact. But there is no such influence and the meaning is also lost.

Indeed, though it's not just us out of the loop - everybody on Xbox and with a PC not powerful enough to run Odyssey and 4.0 too!

They cut off about two thirds of their community with the split, I'm just hoping that they "see sense" and bring us all "back into the fold", sooner rather than later! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ©²πŸ˜€πŸ€˜πŸ€ž .
