For the love of god please fix Scarab Maneuverability

Edit: To anybody that came to this post because he can't drive the scarab - turn Drive assist off.

Driving the scarab is the most unenjoyable thing you could ever imagine. As if the developer though what vehicle could we bring to land on planets that is the most non suitable for planets? The Scarab! It will bump into the smallest rubble and turn wildly to any direction it feels like. It will sometime luch utself to the air just because a little curve on the road says so. Unless you are driving on a flat highway it will be a pain.
Now seriously, this is a nightmare, I see more and more posts on how Elite developers never play their game, while this is of course absurd the driving of the Scarab really feels this way.
Also please don't tell me to drive the other Vehicle, it doesn't have radar. Why on earth would I explore an alien planet without a radar?

But can we tell you to git gud at driving the SRV?
Turn Drive Assist Off and let yourself go
Drive Assist Off will stop the SRV from going nuts when bumping into a little rock?
I didn't try Drive Assist off, but driving normally has nothing to do with git gud

I say it's just another example how technological knowledge degraded over the centuries :)

Making a tight turn at 30 m/s (108 km/h, 67mph) with only 0.05g downdraft is tricky in any case, but with a few small thrusters here and gyros there, auto-levelling should be easy enough to provide.

Drive Assist Off will stop the SRV from going nuts when bumping into a little rock?

No. It would stop trying to bump into the same little rock over and over again. With the assist off, you need to keep a foot on the pedal to drive and don't set a constant throttle.

Nope. But if you learn which little rocks are harmless and which are not, and how to steer efficiently at high speeds, and how to use thrusters to jump over the dangerous rocks, and how to fly over the roughest terrain, and how to land properly, it will all become a really pleasant experience. :)

Not that your SRV won't ever surprise you. It definitely will but the rarer, the more skilled you are.

You need to watch a couple of Alec Turner's videos, start with Towering Inferno 2 here, it's like learning a new driving style, like drifting, you will be rubbish to start with and if you give up after a few tries you will never get better, but I love the SRV and the way I can get it to slide around, jumping over stuff and zooming along, I htink I am quite good, and I am still envious of Alec's skills with his SRV!

IMO the scarab is now new and improved

1. - FA on is cruise control, not flight or drive assist. turn it off

2. put zero pips to engines, unless you want to fly
only put pips to engines if you can manage to go in a straight line to get up speed to boost and lift off.

it works just fine, learn it , use it.

Please stop asking for it to be fixed.

fix the tank, it is waaaaaaaaaaaaay to heavy and has zero value imo.

haha :)
true tho (it only has value in assaulting heavily defended settlements, there it's really good at killing goliaths and the occasional ship flying CAP)
I once took my Scorp in a Guardian site. Trying to jump to pick up materials stuck ontop of the pillars... i was like a fat kid tryin to get a candy waaay to high... 😂 😂

I have tried to learn to drive the Scarab SRV for over 2.5 years now, and still I cannot prevent it from spinning at high speed when the terrain is even slightly bumpy. But it would probably need thruster-based stability control, as mentioned above.

But my big question is, how can I control the attitude of the Scarab while in the air? I have mapped the keys W and S for pitch, but they don’t seem to have any effect. The keys A and D are for roll, and they have some effect. Now my Scarab turns its rear downwards every time it’s in the air for a few seconds. Then it tumbles after touchdown.

The stick on my HOTAS controls the Scarab /Scorpion in 'flight' - forward / back is pitch and left / right is roll
I don't use keyboard controls for anything but on foot, so am unable to comment why your arrangement is not working for you.

I use a joystick for steering and thought that I should map different inputs for attitude controls.

If you use one column of controls for steering, you are able to use the 2nd to re-use the controls for attitude.
This normally works well for most things, but as expected, not always! (and i just discovered I didn't need to duplicate controls in a different column this time!)
