Current State of Carriers

I didn't do any such thing. I said my opinion and that's it. No idea why people keep droning about mine but there we are. And you know what you can do with your "evidence"? Stick it up somewhere we don't see it anymore. Noone needs to proof any your bogus requirements to give their opinions here.
I will trust you because I am a trusting guy. Have you actively played EDO?

This is not intended to insult. This is an ontopic question to determine if your opinions are based on anyting you have experienced in actually playing EDO. Elsewhere you have indicated you don't play this game anymore.

No, and you don't see me post often in the EDO subforum. Because I obviously don't know much about it.

If you obly fly 1 ship then a fleet carrier gains you nothing. Should be pretty obvious.
Untrue.
  • It can provide a large landing pad and all of the relevant staion services in a system that does not have any big orbital starports, for starters.
  • It can provide a way of traversing the whole bubble in 15 minutes, something that would otherwise take much longer for a big ship with small jump range, depending on a build.
  • It can provide a mobile base of operations out in the black
  • It can provide material buy/sell in the bar, which TREMENDOULSY speed up the grind to unlock some of the Odyssey engineers (selling the same single item X times to your own carrier)
That's just a few examples that came to my mind without even thinking about it.

Have you read the OP? And how is your own carrier better than any other carrier on the map for these tasks?

OK, so what I'm gonna do is just put those on ignore who keep droning this and that and what it needs to give an opinion here. Clearly some are just trying to get the confrontation going.

Yeah, my carrier has outfitting so I reconfigure the MKII. I kinda have to force myself to fly other ships now, might change when I'm back in VR full-time.

Actually, I use a sidewinder sometimes when out exploring in the carrier, handy for landing in rough areas.
OK, so you tell me now you use multiple ships.

Yes.
It is better in a way that:
  • I can ALWAYS access it, without relying on someone to let me in.
  • I can move it wherever and whenver I want, at my own convenience
  • If I happen to finish my playsesion on it I am 100% sure that I am going to log back in the exactly same place I left the game, rather than potentially 100s or even 1000s of LY's away
  • Analogically, I can finish my session in a system A and set the jump somewhere else to be done overnight, then log back in directly in the new system I wanted to be in.
  • I cannot sell the same item multiple times to someone's else bartender to unlock the incredibly grindy Odyssey engineers
Again, replied without even thinking about it.

If you played the game and had a carrier you would know:
  • You can actually move your own carrier.
  • You can place your own carrier wherever you want. Right beside a specific desired planet or close to a station.
  • You can store huge quantites of stuff on the carrier. For mining or trade. Or general crap from wherever.
  • You can give your carrier a unique name - sounds minor but important to certain carriers open to player trade.
  • Not all carriers have the services you may want or need.

I think all these advantages you list are convenience bullet points (and not worth the hassle doing them for a journey with just one ship. I wouldn't invest my time into a carrier for that.

Not sure if you are trolling now. I use a krait MKII. If you want specifics, I have used a sidewinder to land in rough terrain when I was exploring guardian sites. 99.9% of the time I use one multirole ship on my carrier.

Back to my original question, can you elaborate on your statement?

I wouldn't grind for a carrier and then go on sustaining it with just a ship I use for exploration.

That's just like your opinion man. Thank you for expressing it. But you've asked, I have replied. Take it or leave it, obviously.

Why would you log out at a stranger's carrier anyway? That's like tempting fate. You can log out in space and go from there the next time.
