The nearest to an explanation you'll ever get is probably contained within this video:What is it that Imperials don't have any medium sized ships, I wonder...

I remember watching that video. The Pilot's honest ship ads were one part of the mix of videos that lured me in to this game...The nearest to an explanation you'll ever get is probably contained within this video:

Aha, this could help explain it… :]Probably someone screwed up translating the interstellar standard measurements into imperial standard measurements.
It does all feel a bit out of scale, like “Go large orThus they have two small ships, of which one just fits quite snugly onto the pad, and two large ships, of which one is just about a little bit too big for the medium pad.
That would make them look a lot like the Adder's big sisters...Aha, this could help explain it… :]
It does all feel a bit out of scale, like “Go large orgo homeget a Courier/Eagle”? Now If we could just get a ship kit that makes the Imperial nose a little less obtrusive and makes the ship a bit shorter…![]()
That is roughly what I paid for this beauty from 1959. It will run roughly 80-100 km on one single liter of gasoline, so energy efficiency is "better than" the Mercedes EQXX. It's got 0.7 HP on a good day and a top speed of 200'ish km/h (as in terminal velocity if you drop it from a very high place). It's the only vehicle I have owned, where doing nothing to the controls, is interpreted as "go as fast as possible". I have had many motorcycles, but this one is special. I just love it!In contrast to that, I'm about to finally have to do my old Vmax (motorcycle) brakes. Each front rotor is $300.00.
I hope they do a bug fix update soon. Took on a kill scanvenger mission and got 17/18. The last one was nowhere to be found. Took off and reentered, another 18 scavs were ready for combat. This time, I could only find 16/18.
Left the system and now I'm waiting on the fine for a mission fail.
ho hum.
That would make them look a lot like the Adder's big sisters...
I doubt Gutamaya would condone that - unless an ancestor of them worked at Outworld Workshops...
The old Solex. A friend of mine had one of those years ago. I had to go over and set his spokes because he didn't know how to do it. Awesome little bikes. You can't hardly kill them. That is roughly what I paid for this beauty from 1959. That's where they keep the hot tub and pillow room, those Imperialist's really love their comfort.Aha, this could help explain it… :]

Now, that sounds like an idea and a half...make a FTL ship that retracts its nose a bit to accommodate a medium landing pad? :]

Alec Turner posted about this Exobiology site, which has everything organized and complete. Check it out. It’s very detailed.
Exobiological Flora - Deep Space Network
This page references knowledge of biological species found on the surface of planets. Detailed species sheets by genus: Note: many of the images presented in this flora were provided by CMDRs who participated in the Artemis Biological Survey, an expedition organised by the DSN. Many thanks...ed-dsn.net
Actually the Concorde just dropped the nose to let the pilots see the ground*, without doing that it was however around a foot longer in supersonic flight than when parked.I suggest trimming the nose a bit, not hacking all the good parts off… ;D
…but really, if 20th century aviation engineers could design a supersonic aircraft with a tilt-adjustable nose, can’t the 34th century’s illustrious Imperial ship-builders make a FTL ship that retracts its nose a bit to accommodate a medium landing pad? :]
