Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

This illustrates so many flaws in the basic game design that I wont start to enumerate them here, but mostly, this shows the TTK is still hilariously quick for a game where you're supposed to do onboard repairs, evacuate ships (notice how the escape pods are just static 3D assets..)...

This is one of my favourite parts of the dreamcrafting that goes on.

They seriously think that while their ship is under attack there will be time to actually run through the ship and perform repairs or whatnot before the ship goes boom. Even if they can effect some repairs, its not really going to help compared to the pounding the ship is getting. It might help post-fight, once damaged, but if the ship survives, to get it in a working condition. But while the fight is on, it will be determined by those in control of the fight. Everyone else might as well get on with mopping the floors for all the good it will do.

They did, and even Spectrum is now flooded with salt.

Oh wow, you're not wrong!

Even traditional white knights are being salty. Sir Monocle Cat and Boo Huxley both being snarky.

What i really like is newer backers taking up the mantle of white knight and bashing them for their snark.

And so the cycle continues... old backers become jaundiced and newer backers calling them haters.

Hells bells, so much salt flowing on Spectrum at the moment...

I did get a chuckle out of this one

A nice 3D screeny of the crossbow was shown at some point, but that's all I can recall. It's currently lost with Sataball, the Sandworm, Theaters of War, and the Manual for Modding Star Citizen.

Also, Shroud of the Avatar is in development...I get emails like every week from them and I've played it.

Oh, my poor sides.

I mean, yeah, there is the single dev who "bought" the company from Gariott who keeps it going, but that's a long way from what was sold to backers years ago.

Maybe this is the future of SC? Nightrider will buy the rights to SC for pennies on the dollar and keep development going for the years ahead, and faithful backers will celebrate when he adds janitorial gameplay.

So there is a mountain of wonderful sass under the ISC reddit thread. But I think this response to Zyloh is my favourite :)

(Nice to see my SM vid being shared around freely in that thread and others too ;))
My favourite quote from that discussion...

I think they made paper planes with ideas of what to do next and threw them through the room.

I also gleaned from that ISC video that Turbulent have now been scuppered with being the primary driving force behind star citizen in it's entirety after the planning 'week'...from content to backend and core systems. It's apparent from recent discussions and video revelations that all of Ci~G's ridiculous money and time wasting efforts to implement meaningful progress toward creating a working game out of this dumpster fire over the last 8-10 years have been practically thrown in the skip... and now Turbulent have been dropped into the deep end with a huge reality check on how they're going to make it all work.

I really wish them luck....and secretly hope they'll be allowed to just get on with it free of the idiot Roberts' influence and interference 🤷‍♂️

Why implement a long ttk when the corresponding gameplay does not exist? This is the alpha, remember?

Armor, soft death, and ttk will be tuned when the escape pods and engineering will be in place, it's not necessary before then. For now, CIG allows one player to easily blow up another player's ship. But they can greatly change that. One simple way (but there are plenty of others) to limit explosions is to force the use of ballistics for x minutes on a single component (QT generator for example). Few players will spend x minutes and completely empty their ballistic supply just to blow up the losing ship as the combat is already won.

Griefing a server by parking ships on tram paths is the new game.
Emergence! Feature! Never done before!
This can only happen now. Once Que Pasa is in full swing, it will generate patrols making sure all transportation routes are safe. Griefing won't be that easy anymore. Also, new professions, like transportation infrastructure engineer will emerge and the simulated market forces will make them lucrative enough for players and NPCs alike, to engage in infrastructure repairs and earn good money.
