Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I think it was single player offline that was pulled.
Solo mode isn't single player, though. Single player means that when I'm not playing the game, the game stays in stasis until I can play again. In ED's case, the game continues... and so do my mission timers. If I can't play the game for a couple weeks due to real life, the circumstances my character is in could be (and frequently has been) radically different from when I last played, even if they're frequently in the same location. I'd probably have played ED ten times as much as I have to date if it was a single player game.

There is no reason mission timers advance. Your bad reputation does only degrade when logged im. ED has just a habit of throwing annoying things into players' faces.

If you have time, I recommend watch Double Fine's Psychodyssey on how they built Psychonauts 2 : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIhLvue17Sd70y34zh2erWWpMyOnh4UN_

Quite a challenge to make a game even when you have many ideas, many competent brains to storm an actual gamedesign off them, people involved to the point of be able to say no. Exponentially multiply the challenge with no gamedesign apart from "everything and the kitchen sink" and "no isn't an answer"

Gameplay videos are out today from a highly restricted 3 hour demo they flew streamers out for, it's a disaster.

They're releasing it in early access in a few days and none of the big features it was supposed to have exist, it actually has less features than KSP 1, it was becoming a slide-show on the demo systems with RTX 4080s even with relatively simple rockets (the recommended specs, I kid you not, include a RTX 3080), the graphics are pretty mediocre and nothing like the "alpha gameplay" that was totally real and true, and even the streamers treated to their special event are mostly recommending to wait.

Since it's already three years late to release, and still isn't even at parity with the first game, it's looking pretty grim for it ever being the game it was hyped up to be.
Well I guess I'll keep holding out for Starfield then..

Great news. Elevators being fixed:

Since you already own KSP, now would be the time to play it for the first time, if you haven’t already. And while Scott Manley’s may be the most recommended when it comes to How2Kerbal videos, I’ve become a fan of Mike Aben’s Contract Guide series.

KSP is, in my opinion, best played in campaign mode, and this series is probably the most recent and in-depth tutorial series. It even taught me some new tricks. :)

edit: Mike Aben, not Mike Abel. Stupid Autocorrect!

No need to hold out. Starfield will be the usual from Bugthesda: good game, beloved by many, hated by some, content for tens of hours extended by mods to thousands of hours, tons of bugs that will be fixed by the community, repeated rereleases over the coming years, and, of course, bigger beeeewbs added by modders as well.

More to the point, it will be released.
