Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Added significantly more to my blocked list on Spectrum, including the -nozzles who regularly engage in passive-aggressive attacks I inevitably call out for being jackasses. Also included the white knights most ardently protected by Nightrider-CIG (who I also blocked) and his fellow guard dogs. Figure if I don't see the stupidity as much, I'll not be so tempted to call it out. Yeah I know - staying off Spectrum would be easier, but I'm like a moth to flame in that regard. :D

I see you are a fun of J3PT though 😋

Blocking a moderator. That's a power move!

The victim then reported the pirates to CIG support who promptly warned one of them.

How do you know this? That the carrack person reported anything to CIG? It is possible CIG did this all on their own based off of seeing the pic on reddit.

Pretty sure one of the excessive griefing warnings I got wasnt because of being reported, but because I posted it to a discord.

Perform a character repair?

Didn't they recently restrict that?

Repair is the new, cheaper 'reset'.

There was an intriguing bit in last week's vid about how they've had to downgrade the reset option for 3.18 too...

Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZLtYMY753I&t=1230s

TLDW:
  • The player reset option in 3.17:
    • Resets entire account to hard money purchases alone etc. Historically needed due to backend stability. (Head attached to mining tool. Missing eyes. Missing mobiglas.). There are performance issues. Too many people using it.
    • They're hoping that transactional nature of PES means data corruption issues will be much less frequent, and so much less of the above. Also full reset = too costly. And people used it for mass-moving items back to start location. Can't support that any more.
  • The new repair tool in 3.18 [24m]:
    • Missing items on playing avatar (eyes, head etc) = a core reason for reset. Focusing on that stuff, getting you back playing, not the costly inventory reset. New tool will no longer destroy/restore inventory etc. Will only restore your character, so you can get back playing. Destroys avatar, and gives you new one, in new place, so would also free you from being trapped etc. (Crimestat etc will carry over). Some ships bugs now need to be fixed as won't be addressed (IE unrepairable, unflyable etc)
    • Customer service will still have full reset option as nuclear option etc
    • Current solution can't recover subscriber items etc. They will iterate........

It's the semi-nuclear option ;)

Out of morbid curiosity, what is it?
Gameplay videos are out today from a highly restricted 3 hour demo they flew streamers out for, it's a disaster.

They're releasing it in early access in a few days and none of the big features it was supposed to have exist, it actually has less features than KSP 1, it was becoming a slide-show on the demo systems with RTX 4080s even with relatively simple rockets (the recommended specs, I kid you not, include a RTX 3080), the graphics are pretty mediocre and nothing like the "alpha gameplay" that was totally real and true, and even the streamers treated to their special event are mostly recommending to wait.

Since it's already three years late to release, and still isn't even at parity with the first game, it's looking pretty grim for it ever being the game it was hyped up to be.

Obsidian Ant seemed to enjoy it and the graphics seem quite good.
