Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I just got killed.

This is what happens when you don't pay enough attention and get cockyblase. I was trying to find a decent piece of software for RGB control.

I just can't get iCue to find all my hardware and I'm still reading nasty stuff about Armoury Crate. I've just downloaded RGB Fusion 2.0 which I'll try out later.

Meanwhile, I shall try to do a mission properly.

Oh... and a black screen of death on ship disembark. Haven't had that for a while. Fun times.

Probably because they haven't even messed with VR since before Odyssey was released.
There are a lot of things developers needs to work at for this game, there haven't been any new ships for ages, we need more missions for flyers too, I never wanted to play footie stuff when I started with ED Horizon and it haven't changed, VR (when working) is really good I must say, the game has good graphics.

Elite Dangerous is not the only game where developers are making things more difficult for the VR players, in fact, between apps, VR headset manufacturers and game developers there apparently are little efforts made to work together to improve it, instead it's all commercial first, customer second...

Anyway, we wll see how AMD will respond, they released two drivers in a couple of month time, proof they are doing something, now it's not enough and people are starting to post topics on the subject of drivers issues on the AMD forum...

No idea I'm afraid. Are you using that software?

Yes, but as far as i know it requires the devices to be Asus and to have the required firmware/rgb lights - i mean it works over different hardware like laptops, mouse, kb and headphones, but... all Asus.
And the RBG control is only a part of it (named Asus Aura Effects & Sync), while the Armoury Crate (proper) deals all fan/oc profiles and system monitoring and settings

Well RGB Fusion 2 blue screened my PC so that got uninstalled pronto. I then tried OpenRGB SDK and that reported that "WingRing0 failed to initialise". Looking into it a bit further, it sounds like an RGB device driver has corrupted or failed or just gone AWOL.

That's enough RGB for me. It can just as is - I'm not going to dig into these dark arts any further.

I'm still reeling from my boot times :D

So the week's exobio & exploration trip went well - though the exobiology payouts were nothing to write home about, I did get some nice footage with the Scorp and a Patch of Pumpkins... so here's an edit served with some fairly well-chilled music: :alien:🎃

I've got the hang of manual docking again after I accidentally launched the T9 minus a docking computer once more, when I meant to launch the Asp X. :sneaky:

Easy-peasy this time for some reason now I remember how to do it, but I guess it's a lot easier on a fleet carrier than manually docking in a mail-slot station, especially a busy one when the pad you're given is tucked in a corner near the entrance, or even worse a Coriolis station where you have to find the mail slot entrance first, before even attempting to land on any pad. I'm not sure how I used to manage it back in 2015 when I didn't use a DC, but somehow I did...
I've always struggled with the radar when it comes to Coriolis stations so I just look out for the red and white lights. It feels more intuitive but I didn't even notice them early on.

Just recalling now, i think it’s more surface level in metallic rings and more subsurface or cores even in ice belts - often a nice bonus find when laser-mining Tritium.
Well, the Elusive Imp in mining spec is equipped to do all the mining, so that shouldn't be an issue.
I wonder if it makes any sense over here in the museum to try to sell Tritium to one of the fleet carriers...
