Since the launch of Update 14, and the arrival of the Maelstroms, many Commanders have found it difficult to instance with each other when flying in groups larger than four. The ongoing narrative development has encouraged many player-groups to coordinate and fly together. Since it appears that being in a team greatly improves chances of successful connection, I propose expanding the max team size from four Commanders to eight Commanders.
Currently, the team size of four limits the cooperative possibilities in the game. When applying for a Squadron, you are required to recruit nine additional members before being able to apply for a Player Minor Faction. This requirement has indirectly led to the issue since many Squadron member counts surpass 10+ members.
With a larger team size, Anti-xeno player groups will be able to undertake more complex missions and engage in larger scale battles within the AX conflict zones. This change would also provide more opportunities for peace activists to strategize and coordinate their actions within the Nebulae, ultimately increasing the depth of the gameplay for both parties.
Moreover, the expansion of team size would encourage the formation of larger player groups and foster more social interactions among the more novice side of the community. Newer players would be able to make new friends, collaborate on ambitious projects, and engage in more immersive role-playing experiences without having to deal with extensive connection issues.
I understand that implementing this feature may require significant technical resources, but I believe that the benefits of expanded team size would be well worth the effort. From what I've gathered, it already seems possible since I've observed NPC ships flying in teams of five or higher in the Coalsack Nebula. It would compliment the current content being developed by the team, and would undoubtedly enrich the gameplay experience of Elite Dangerous outside of the war itself.
Grateful for the Development team's attention to the current narrative development, and I look forward to hearing the community's thoughts on this particular idea
I'm sure this has been requested before but I couldn't find the thread.. apologies if this is a duplicate post
