Yes, for a short while subsurface mining was excellent, especially for tritium, but also for platinum. Then “The Egg” was discovered and FDEV decided to nerf everything, hotspots became the nearly useless things they are now and prices were slashed. Now, the PWA is also busted for subsurface detection so no one much bothers with it. It’s a shame. When all the mining tools worked it was an excellent experience.

PS the Egg was a very high percentage roid that could be reset by the player, by using an SLF. You could fill your cargo hold in minutes.

Yes, it was a glitch. And at the time FDEV was for some reason very concerned about the payouts for mining, so they went way overboard with the fix(es).

Fast forward to today when you can make more in a couple hours of Exobiology. Sometimes FDEV makes very weird decisions. shrug

When I was ranking in combat, sometimes I would hit an NPC cop and kill him, I would log into Horizons and payoff the bounty, worked every time (notoriety gone).

I'm thinking Frontier must have a big turnover in developers, they haven't seemed to learn from their mistakes as seen in the link between credits and ranking in biology.

2 hours per point, but those hours are to be counted while active in game (but not sitting on the pad in some station)

Noticed I was getting close to ExoBio Elite, so tried to nail the treshold.
In my case the promotion happened between 8.424 & 8.429 billion Cr.
I'm a Juicer Elite, yay. :)

I did a couple more carrier jumps and I'm out of the Whambios now. I'm seriously wondering though if somebody at Frontier decided to name that sector "WHAMBIO" and put lots and lots of salad in it, because very often before I arrived there, I could be exploring a dozen or more systems with no bios on any of the planets or moons at all. In that sector though, as well as the 70 bio system my carrier arrived at that time, I went to a few other Whambio systems and found 5 bios here, 12 bios there, 9 bios somewhere else in pretty much every other system I arrived at. In fact, even the Whambio system my carrier last jumped to had 15 bios. :geek:

If anyone else here fancies giving that sector a try sometime, get yer carrier fired up (if you have one) and head 19,000-odd LY from Sol to Odin's Hold region and search Whambio in the galaxy map. :cool:

Nice wp :cool: ...at first death is good [if you aren't dying in fps, you're not trying ;] ...then to avoid it with sufficient skill so as to avoid respawn inconvenience is better :]

I'm still recuperating, so will wander down armed with a cup of tea to sample the vegetables on the third bio world in this system - from where I set the carrier to park last night...

Uhmmm... i think you'll just register as 0% contribution & it'll fall away with the CG completion date - not well experienced with those, have done a small few and some i didn't do anything with after registering, to no ill effect that i was aware of... only the stars will judge one - and that's ok? ;]

So this morning's stroll from my sickbed flight is a quick one, main challenge being not to spill the tea...

There are no penalties associated with CGs and the current one could last for around 10 more days which would still give you a chance to take part. But that said the only rewards from it are credits and ways to temporarily earn more credits from exploration so missing it wouldn’t be a big deal.

With the previous one ending badly for me I am giving this one a miss with surprisingly few withdrawal symptoms.
