No Stage Trees are from the Known Space stories along with other interesting things such as The Fleet of Worlds and the Ring World.

No they can be very nasty, read the short story “A Relic of Empire” for more about them.Interesting. Thank you. Now I fully understand their name.
Honestly, though, I wouldn't want to be in orbit of a planet that hosts a few of these trees when they mature...
I haven't been out there, yet, But I have seen this star cluster on quite a few pictures.
From what I have seen so far, if you are inside a system, you might be able to see the stars and planets of that system if you are far enough out, but I have never seen another system show up like this, no matter how close it may be to your current system. Thus I think this is either a star cluster or the remains of a dwarf galaxy that got swallowed by ours.

Fascinating. Looking forward to seeing more of it.I'm sure it's a star cluster - travelled about 1000LY towards it before I had to log off yesterday, until it was more than twice the angle of view than in the earlier pic... so at a rough estimate, it should be at most another 1000LY before I get there later on - but after breakfast I think :]
If I had to guess, I would suspect those ammonia-based lifeforms sometimes to be found in the atmosphere of gas giants to be an ancestrial option for them...Interesting world & ideas - I'd heard of Larry Niven before, but not read his work - the idea of pre-technological space-faring species like the Stage Trees is quite intriguing, like the Stellar Phenomena / Molluscs, etc. in Elite (someday I hope I will eventually find a Gyre Wheel) ...perhaps these are the simpler life forms Thargoids originally evolved from?![]()

Really fascinating. Maybe there is another specimen of these hidden somewhere in the outer farmost regions of our galaxy...Quite excited about continuing this journey today... if only I had the energy to go make tea... where is the Nutrimat when u need it?
Yes indeed, perhaps that is the kind of environment where these space-faring species originated?
Some intriguing similarities - the eight-fold symmetry of the Gyre Trees / Pods, the "pearl" in the Pods' crowns that looks very similar to that of the Scouts - also that they apparently emit caustics... added a video from Canonn above - some similar speculation there^
I wish I had a few of those weapons of yours! And I wish I knew how to get them! (Stealing stuff from settlements that engineers require to upgrade the weapons?)That CZ didn't go well. Died three times from a distant sniper goit. Gawd, I hate those... shouldn't be allowed.
Still won the day and got 6.5mCR for it though![]()
Lots of power-on missions. Lots. And focusing on mission rewards that give material rewards.I wish I had a few of those weapons of yours! And I wish I knew how to get them! (Stealing stuff from settlements that engineers require to upgrade the weapons?)
Anyway, I doubt I'm the first commander to see this view of Farseer Inc but I'll post it anyway.

I remember being given a book when I was in Sudia Arabia in 1991 called The Integral Trees, I think it was from the same author, pretty trippy story about people living on a giant tree floating out in space. I guess he is where Halo got their idea for that story line from Ring World.Interesting world & ideas - I'd heard of Larry Niven before, but not read his work - the idea of pre-technological space-faring species like the Stage Trees is quite intriguing, like the Stellar Phenomena / Molluscs, etc. in Elite - someday I hope I will eventually find GyreWheelTrees ...perhaps these are the simpler life forms Thargoids originally evolved from?![]()
Thanks. I've made a note of all that.Lots of power-on missions. Lots. And focusing on mission rewards that give material rewards.
And material trading with the barkeeps. Graphene is good to trade with as it's worth a lot of other mats
And, if you're doing suits, deliberately failing power-on's so you can tealeaf the PR.
Time to get your Executioner out and have some sweet, long-range revenge ;]That CZ didn't go well. Died three times from a distant sniper goit.
Good going - it's interesting how it seems to often be these small moons that are "teeming with life" [well, relatively speaking, in terms of low-atmosphere worlds ;]I remember being given a book when I was in Sudia Arabia in 1991 called The Integral Trees, I think it was from the same author, pretty trippy story about people living on a giant tree floating out in space. I just finished a very small moon (gravity 0.06) with 10 bios on it, managed to get all 10.
It's a great base design, fun to ride around on the bridges in an SRV - even though i remember falling down into the trenches in my fairly new SRV on my first visit there - it was pitch black darkness down there & i just couldn't find a way out (before night vision i think) - had to self-destruct to get back to my ship... ;pAnyway, I doubt I'm the first commander to see this view of Farseer Inc but I'll post it anyway.![]()
No problem! And you also need that most precious of commodities: timeThanks. I've made a note of all that.![]()
